Size, skill and fierce competitiveness would characterize all as well as push them to the forefront of WV prep recruiting talk.
Eli Campbell Eli Campbell 6’0″ | CG Midland Trail | 2024 State WV is a dynamic point guard from Midland Trail HS who can flat play the game. Shoot it, defend it, rebound it, pass it, etc., the kid just gets it done. If you need stat sheets filled he can do it, but if you need him to be a role player, team player and do the dirty work, he’ll do that to. Playing at Midland Trail doesn’t demand a great amount of media attention, but don’t let the lack of popularity fool ya, Eli is one of WV’s better guards.
Highlights
Leyton Toepfer Leyton Toepfer 6’1″ | CG Brooke | 2024 State WV hails from Brooke High School in WV’s northern panhandle and doesn’t get the attention deserved by such a talented player. The combo type guard is very skilled and scores the ball very well playing WV big school competition. Seeing Leyton during AAU/travel season showed nothing different, great effort defensively and ability to play both guard positions with high basketball IQ to compliment his talent.
Jackson is one of the best hidden gems in the last two years. Seeing him play at The Bridge Sports Complex during AAU season, we were immediately impressed with his quick feet, finishing ability and face up game. Crouso who’s grown to 6’7″ has recently been ID’d by WV BlueChips as one of 2024’s top big/post players and has quickly gained D3 and D2 attention. Crouso is a relentless rebounder as well as having a high level of comfort handling the ball, shooting and passing from outside the lane. Look for him to turn into a very effective stretch four at the college level.
Hall is no doubt one of the more promising small school players in WV. Standing at 6’5″ and mobility of a guard, Hall is a mismatch for most teams the minute he walks in the gym. Playing for one of WV’s top basketball schools, Greater Beckley Christian, Hall should get on the radar quickly this upcoming season. The ability to post nightly double doubles should never be undervalued and Hall puts those numbers consistently.
Strader who starred for the Big Shots WV Reign team this past spring/summer has quickly emerged at one of North Central WV’s best multi-sport athletes. Standing at a long 6’4″ Ian is a well above average rebounder who finishes at the rim consistently. He’ll be Buckhannon Ushur’s best player this year and likely make a hard push for all-state.
Nic Fleming is a dynamic scorer for Princeton High School. We first saw Fleming live in Myrtle Beach this past summer and he did not dissapoint. He can score the ball many ways and often times vs bigger defenders. Often asked to fill many roles by teams he plays for due to his versatility, Fleming always catches your eye with his craftiness. Fleming could be one of WV’s top scorers this season and will likely post several double doubles.
