Time to take a look at one of the best teams in Class B! THe Cougars have all the pieces to get back to State and make a deep run to the Championship. "I thought we had a really good season finishing 6th in State and winning the Cornbelt Conference when not many would have predicted us to do so."   How did the offseason go for your team/program?   "As a team, we participated in the Summer Jam League as well as went to the University of Kansas Team Camp (our first time going to a large, D1 team camp). We had a number of individuals play on travel teams, doing workouts, etc."   PHD: Who are a few of your top players to look out for and why?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1535886' first='Nick' last='Hanson'] - (2025) 6'6 - Was a Class B All-State player last year and made the State B All-Tournament team also. He had a good summer and continues to develop."   "[player_tooltip player_id='1832812' first='Brady' last='Schroedermeier'] (2026) 6'0 - Started all last year and really became a lockdown defender for us. He has added height and strength from last year."   "[player_tooltip player_id='2258471' first='Bryson' last='Morrison'] (2024) 6'1 - Bryson has a good all-around game and is a smart player."   "[player_tooltip player_id='2258436' first='Devin' last='Sayler'] (2024) 6'1 - Was our 6th man last year and should enter the season healthy after having injuries late in the FB season his soph. and junior years." He saw some time on varsity last year and should contend for a starting spot this year."   "Owen Niederbaumer (2025) 6'5 - Owen is new to our school this year. He played in Lennox last year."   "Josh Roth (2024) 5'10 - had a good season shooting the 3 on JV last year." We still like to utilize the post and have a few players, in addition to Nick, who are capable of playing there. Defensively, we were primarily a man-man team last year, but have relied heavily on zone in other years."   PHD: What are a couple of your team goals this year?   "We haven't really gotten into specifics but I know the team would like to return to State and try to improve upon our 6th place finish from last year."   PHD: Who are some of the top teams in your Region?   "Top teams in our Region- Centerville, Freeman Academy/Marion"   "Centerville returns a good portion of their team and gets [player_tooltip player_id='1266228' first='Cole' last='Edberg'] back after he missed all of last season. FA/M has had a good team the past few years and a good program. Hard to predict how things will go with some of the teams. I feel we are the best team."
