By now you know that we have a new No. 1 ranked prospect in shooting guard Jalil Bethea Jalil Bethea 6'4" | SG Archbishop Wood | 2024 State #5 Nation PA (Kentucky commit). Right behind Bethea at No. 2 is combo guard Ahmad Nowell Ahmad Nowell 6'0" | PG Imhotep Charter | 2024 State #36 Nation PA (UConn commit).
This morning we scoured the Pennsylvania Class of 2024 rankings to uncover five 2024sw from southeastern Pennsylvania who have impressed us recently. Based on what we saw over the last three months and a few other factors, we believe the prospects reviewed below are primed for a monster senior season.
#28… Kevin McCarthy Kevin McCarthy 6'4" | SG Episcopal Academy | 2024 State PA – 6’4″ / Episcopal Academy / Philly Revolution / Shooting Guard: This wing scoring machine has already been a 1st Team All-Inter-Ac selection, but bigger accolades are coming his way. McCarthy’s off the dribble skill set has improved significantly in the last three months. Plus, EA added several talented prospects via transfers. Wing Langston Foster Langston Foster 6'1" | PG Episcopal Academy | 2026 State PA , point guard Keron Booth and combo guard Matt McCarthy Matt McCarthy 6'2" | SG Episcopal Academy | 2025 State PA are all newcomers who will make significant contributions in 2023-24. Their presence will keep opponents from double teaming McCarthy on every touch. So, we expect McCarthy’s offensive stats to skyrocket.
#63… Jaden Colzie Jaden Colzie 6'0" | PG Plymouth Whitemarsh | 2024 State PA – 5’10” / Plymouth Whitemarsh / BW Elite / Point Guard: In 2022-23 Colzie worked with two elite 2023 perimeter prospects to lead “P-Dub” to the District 1-6A tournament title. This coming season Colzie will be option No. 1 for the Colonials and from we have witnessed lately, Colzie possesses the scoring skills to fill that role. Colzie’s 3-point shot is automatic, his transition game is unstoppable, and he can get to the rack in the half-court anytime he desires. Plus, Colzie can still distribute with the best point guards in the state. In 2023-24 we expect Colzie to produce impressive numbers and pull in numerous offers.
#95… Fazl Oshodi Fazl Oshodi 6'3" | CG Friends Central | 2024 State PA – 6’3″ / Friends Central / East Coast Power / Combo Guard: In August Oshodi was a standout performer at the HG Invite Only Elite Camp. That month he also destroyed the competition at the Check Rock League. Oshodi then posted outstanding performances at September events such as the Big 64 Showcase and CoBL Interstate Shootout. In short Oshodi’s game has gone to another level. Thus, we believe Oshodi should be a legitimate scoring machine this winter. FCS also added incredibly skilled transfers Su-Meer Alleyne Su-Meer Alleyne 6'4" | SF Friends Central | 2025 State PA and Patrese Feamster Patrese Feamster 6'3" | SG Friends Central | 2027 State PA . Those two will stretch opposing defenses, creating operating space for Oshodi.
#109…Jayden Robinson – 6’5″ / Lower Merion / DBoyz / Small Forward: During his junior season Robinson averaged 14 points and 7 boards per game for Frankford in the fiercely competitive Philadelphia Public League. This year, Robinson’s size, athleticism, transition skills and feathery jumper will make him the primary option for LM. Robinson’s stats should get a boost thanks to Lower Merion’s well designed offensive system too. Lastly, this winter Robinson will be playing in a Central League filled with teams in rebuild mode. For these reasons, a player of Robinson’s will feast in 2023-24.
#241… Zaire Smaltz Zaire Smaltz 6'4" | SG Parkland | 2024 State PA – 6’6″ / Parkland / Explosion BA / Shooting Guard: Smaltz is an athletic and versatile prospect who excels at numerous facets of the game. He will grab a rebound and go coast to coast for a lay-in. Smaltz can knock down threes too. He also owns the ability to create off the dribble and finish on an opponent’s head. On defense his size and length enable Smaltz to guard 2 through 4. At various events over the last two months, Smaltz has posted a string of attention-grabbing performances. We predict he will use that momentum to propel him to a fantastic senior season.
