The Big Eight is fresh off a season of hard fought games from top to bottom. A conference that consists of DI Prospects and great coaching, these programs produce some of the top prospects in the state of Wisconsin. The Big Eight Championship was awarded to Middleton last season, and their almost perfect conference record was blemished by Madison La Follette who finished 3rd in conference play.

The Big Eight is made up of; Middleton, Madison Memorial, Sun Prairie West, Verona, Janesville Craig, Janesville Parker, Madison East, Sun Prairie East, Beloit Memorial, and Madison West, and Madison La Follette. After a dog-eat-dog year I was able to pick some of the top returners to keep an eye out for this coming season.

Below are just some of the top returners in the conference.

Chris Davis Jr | 6 '3 | Sun Prairie West | 2025

Davis Jr is coming off a big season for Sun Prairie West. His 24 points and 4 rebounds earned him first team all conference honors. The 6'3 guard proved his offensive prowess after his sophomore season. Look for him to carry the title of floor leader this coming season after leading his team to 4th place in the Big Eight Conference. He holds offers from Arkansas State and Bryant, do not be surprised for this list to grow as he has a lot more basketball to play.

Andrew Murphy | 6 '5 | Verona | 2025

Murphy earned first team all conference honors last season for Verona. Averaging 19 points per game while exploiting mismatches with his great size and ability to space the floor. The 6' 5 wing has offers from Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. Murphy has a lot of room to grow and make a bigger name for himself, with two seasons ahead of him the list of offers will likely grow as well.

JJ Douglas | 6 ‘5 | Janesville Parker | 2024

Douglas averaged a near double double for Janesville Parker. He brings a high level of tenacity from the football field onto the basketball court. Averaging 8 points and 10 rebounds, you can count on him expanding his productivity heading into his senior season. Douglas holds a school record 32 rebounds which is an amazing feat.

[player_tooltip player_id='1447229' first='Will' last='Garlock'] | 6 '10 | Middleton | 2025

Garlock is a 6 '10 big man who you can count on to dominate in the next two seasons. After earning all conference honors as a sophomore, he will lead the way with his dominance around the basket. As a major contributor on Middleton's conference championship run, look for him to use his experience to his advantage and for his leadership role to expand. Garlock holds offers from; Marquette, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Virginia Tech.

[player_tooltip player_id='1260947' first='Sam' last='Mickelson'] | 6'7 | Madison Memorial | 2024

Mickelson is a prospect that should be on everyones' radar as a top returner for the runner up conference champs. He earned first team all conference honors in a fierce Big Eight Conference. He averaged 19 points per game as a sophomore by being a workhorse in transition and filling it up and around the painted area. You can count on the 6'7 forward to lead the way this coming season as a senior leader.
