Top Players at the Kansas Top 250 Expo

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Every year the Kansas Top 250 Expo in Kansas City gives a sneak peak at guys prepping for big high school seasons. Some are established vets trying to keep their skills sharp while others are unproven young guys trying to establish roles on the varsity. And some are sophomores who are still unknown.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's easy to put all the focus on the new names. They ran up and down the floor wearing opponents out with their fast break attack, with Cobin leading the way. His team was so talented and in synch, Cobin didn't have do it all himself. But he flashed the talents that make him so dynamic. He is strong and lightning quick on the drive and he hits circus shots with regularity. He didn't try to make it all about him. But Freeman stood out. Perhaps the thing you notice first is just how easily he throws down with two hands. He's the kind of athlete who just makes the game look simple. Freeman handled the ball and attacked from the point, ran the floor smoothly and made plays in the paint. He's well-built and plays with physicality. Though just a junior, he looked strong and mature against the field Saturday. He took the ball into the teeth of the defense and scored or kicked it to shooters effectively. It's surprising that he's just a sophomore when you stack him up against the competition. No wonder he's having a fine season as a versatile threat for the Maize football team. He combines size, strength and explosiveness, great coordination and athletic skill. He's got good size for a guard and is capable of taking opponents into the lane and muscling up. He's a smooth, skilled player who is a threat to go end to end with the ball and make plays at high speed. He is a good athlete who makes things look easy. As a point guard, his eyes are always up, getting his teammates the ball in good position.
