It’s easily the toughest job we do, but can also be the most rewarding, especially seeing new names and faces enter the list. While rankings might seem to be most polarizing, we shouldn’t discount the hard work that the newcomers on the initial 2024 class list have put forth to get there.
While Joy isn’t a household name yet, he’s done enough and has shown enough not only to us, but to college coaches as well to justify his entrance into the top 50. Cole has the attention of a handful of D3’s at the moment but could very well parlay that attention into D2 looks as well. He has a school season coming up with one of WV’s top programs.
One of our small school specialists, Barr has entered the rankings and for good reason. His combination of size and skill make him more than marketable for college coaches as well as high value for his high school program. Having a great state tournament performance in March, Barr left a lasting impression on evaluators and coaches alike who saw a combination of shooting skill and size from the wing, which is of high value at the next level.
Boggs name has been recently mentioned by a handful of college coaches after some recent outstanding showings at elite/prospect camps. He has a full skill set at 6’4″-6’5″ frame that has caught the eye of multiple coaches and put him the recruiting radar in WV. Playing on a high school team which has boasted D2 & D3 players last couple years, Boggs is set to pave his own way to a college roster while leading Elkins through their school season.
McGee is one of the more intriguing players on this list. He has above average athleticism and great bounce at 6’4″ and guarding capabilities that can get him to the next level. Excited to track his develpment into 2024.
Mahood is a super athletic 6’4″ player who continues to rise in stock as well as develop his game and body. Comfortable in the post and on the wing, Mahood is another one of those athletic hybrid players who give value by utility. In the under-recruited eastern panhandle, Mahood is working to bring attention to his game as well as others in the region.
Eli Campbell Eli Campbell 6’0″ | CG Midland Trail | 2024 State WV hails from a small school but plays big school basketball. Fierce competitor with big value in his skill set, Campbell will pace his school team and continue to build his recruiting resume to work his way into more recruiting talk. Look for coaches to get serious about him late in the school season.
Highlights
Koen is another one of those post-oriented players who’s transitioned to the wing and is very comfortable. Sartin’s summer AAU campaign included a run of double doubles that is rarely seen. An opportunistic scorer and well above average rebounder, Sartin will continue to put up big numbers in the stat sheet through school season.
Pittsnogle is one of the more notable players on the recent rankings, not only for his last name but mostly due to his size, which is tough to find in the high school ranks, especially WV. KP has worked very hard to get his game to a recruitable level, and we think he’s very close. Slowly adding facets to his post-game and sharpening his stroke from deep, KP is hard ignore and coaches have taken note.
