Games were held at several sites including Bishop Gorman HS, Coronado HS, Silverado HS, Las Vegas Basketball Center, and Cimarron HS. Some of the top matchups included LABC (Harvard Westlake) vs Prolific Prep, Wasatch Academy vs Overtime Elite, and Columbus (Miami, FL) vs Florida Eagles (Montverde Academy).
JJ provided a steady balance of scoring and playmaking for Utah Prep this weekend in their wins over Tri Valley Basketball (Dougherty HS), Eagle Select (Santa Margarita HS), and Basha (Chandler, AZ). He has good vision/patience on offense to let plays and passing windows develop so that he can setup teammates for easy opportunities with on-time passes. Mandaquit also makes an impact on the offensive end by being a good shooter, attacking the basket from a variety of angles, and drawing contact to get to the free throw line.
Junior showed off his offensive versatility this weekend in Utah Prep’s wins over Tri Valley Basketball (Dougherty HS), Eagle Select (Santa Margarita HS), and Basha (Chandler, AZ). The big guard finished well around the basket and earned trips to the free throw line, created extra chances by crashing the glass, and finding his open teammate once he drew a second defender.
Highlights
Brayden shot the ball very effectively this weekend for Millennium in games against Corner Canyon (UT), CBC (Sierra Canyon), and a win over St. John Bosco. He played as an ideal complimentary shooting wing as he repeatedly found open holes/pockets of space and was able to take advantage with his smooth shooting stroke. Barrett also contributes on the glass at both ends.
Mister was the driving force for Paraclete in their wins over the Liberty Lions (Liberty HS), Blue Knights (NV, Democracy Prep HS), and Dons Basketball (Cathedral Catholic HS). He exhibited good footwork, patience, and body control to navigate through the paint and the extra defensive attention that he draws. Burnside also attacks the basket confidently with either hand.
Larry exhibited his athleticism, strength, and shooting ability in Southern California Academy’s wins over the Storm Hoopers (Owyhee HS) and Toros Select (Arbor View HS). He was a nightmare in transition for opponents who had real difficulty dealing with Johnson’s strength and athleticism as he repeatedly finished above the rim or simply leapt high enough to finish over whoever was trying to stop him.
