He is a player that doesn't seem rushed with a basketball as he analyzes the defense and picks his spots effectively. He has the ability to break down his defender, and create and make his shots often. He is the type of player that if you let heat up its a done deal. He has a knack for using his ability to get off the floor to shoot over defenders. He has a sturdy frame which allows him to take contact and not get bumped off of his spots. He also demonstrated the ability to hit the mid range to go along with this floater game. He demonstrated his ability to get all the way to the rim for finishers on either side with either hand. He was also highly effective using screens, and if the defense gave him too much space , displayed his three point ability. The lefty combined size with skill, which he uses to both score of the ball and find open teammates in spots where they could get a bucket. Hawkins also showed the ability to get up above the rim for dunks, while also being able to hit three pointers off of the dribble. He brought intensity on both ends of the floor, and brought his ability to score of the ball in punches and in the variety of ways. Once Whitney gets ahead of steam in transition, he is, very tough to stop as he has the moves in strength to finish to contact consistently.
