The ‘Musketeers’ won the championship and their team featured Jaylen Barry Jaylen Barry 6'1" | SG Edgewood | 2024 OH , Grant Waters Grant Waters 6'1" | SG McNicholas | 2027 OH , Chad Marischen Chad Marischen 5'9" | PG Lakota East | 2026 OH , Carson Gutmann Carson Gutmann 6'7" | PF Springboro | 2025 State OH , Jayden Rambo Jayden Rambo 6'2" | SG Springboro | 2025 OH and Luke Shaw. In this article I’ll break down the standout performers from their team.
Barry was an efficient guard who made quick moves off the catch to score. He attacked closeouts and after hitting shots from the perimeter, started using the pump fake to get to the basket. I thought the chemistry him and Luke Shaw had together from the off-guard position helped their team get easy transition buckets.
Was recently a standout in a past week, Waters once again impressed me with his ability to shoot the ball from long distance with a quick release. I thought he made more defensive plays that I’d previously seen, including one time he jumped a passing lane to get a steal that led to an easy layup. Waters also pickpocketed an opposing ball handler and was fouled in transition on the layup.
Highlights
A new name I discovered on Saturday, Marischen was one of the leading scorers on the day with his ability to score the ball from multiple areas on the court. Hitting deep shots off the bounce, Marischen punished opponents who were going under screens and allowing him to pull-up. I was also impressed with his acrobatic finishes at the rim, using both hands to score. He also showed the ability to break down the initial defender and then make live dribble passes to open teammates.
The big man in the middle for his team, Gutman was a dominant force on the interior. A forward who takes up a lot of space in the paint, he helped anchor the defense by slowing down paint drives and rebound. His effort also got him some easy buckets as he outran opposing bigs for wide open layups when his guards fed him the ball. The chemistry that Gutman and Jayden Rambo Jayden Rambo 6’2″ | SG Springboro | 2025 OH showed together was impressive, as the high school teammates linked up for multiple guard to forward assists and played well off each other.
