The last three weeks of hoops culminated in bracket play matchups on Sunday with a few champions being crowned for their efforts throughout the month of October. As we did each week of this great event, Prep Hoops Indiana had boots on the ground coverage. Let’s take a look back and highlight some of the stock-risers from the last four weeks of the Metro Indy Fall League.
Davis quickly became one of my favorite players to watch at the Metro Indy Fall league. The athletic 6’5″ forward was a big reason why Team Andy Williams took home the “Varsity B” Bracket Championship on Sunday evening. He was highly productive around the basket all month long showcasing a soft touch and excellent finishing ability on either block. Heading into his junior season at Mount Vernon (Fortville) High School, Davis has his best basketball still to come.
Highlights
This 6’6″ senior forward from Arsenal Tech High School had a very good fall and looks poised for a breakout senior season. Ford is very strong which allows him to rebound at a high level and play through contact, but he also is explosive enough athletically to rim run and get vertical at both ends of the floor. There are some intriguing tools to work with while projecting this prospect to the next level.
The George Hill All Indy team that played in the Metro Indy Fall League featured a couple of big men that are new to the state of Indiana. However, it was Guess who really stood out at different times this fall with his high-level craftiness around the basket. The Warren Central High School product is very mobile for his 6’6″, strong frame with excellent footwork around the paint. He rebounds his area very well too. Big fan of his game and is one of the better post prospects in the Class of 2025.
I’ve personally been a fan of Howard’s for over a year now, but he really has taken another leap since his sophomore season. The talented shot-maker had an excellent summer and was one of the more productive guards at the Metro Indy Fall League. How is an excellent shooter both off of the dribble and the catch from beyond the arc and does a good job creating on his way to the basket as well. A breakout junior season is coming at Pike High School.
I don’t want to over play my hand and get ahead of myself as we are a few weeks out from a rankings update, but this Lapel High School product is going to be trending upwards. Judge has all of the physical tools you could want in a wing with good size at 6’5″, good athleticism, and some strength to play through contact. He is excellent at attacking closeouts and is a consistent catch-and-shoot threat as well. Starting to emerge as a really intriguing prospect that should see his college recruitment take off sooner rather than later.
For one reason or another I admittedly hadn’t seen Wiley play very much before this fall. Now, after seeing him play three of the last four weekends, I not only have a better grasp on his game but also have become a fan. The Park Tudor product is a big time shooter that possesses some pretty impressive athletic ability as well. Seems safe to predict a breakout sophomore season from Wiley.
