The event was held on Saturday Oct. 14 and featured varsity, junior varsity and freshmen teams. I was able to attend the event in the evening to see the varsity teams. Here’s a look at some additional standouts I saw.
1. Josahn Webster – King/Drew 2026
Webster is one of the best shooters in high school basketball that I’ve seen. He is near automatic if left wide open. You can’t go under the screen at all cause he will let that shot fly. He can shoot with defenders in his space and will pull-up if the defense sags. High release on his shot. He’s also able to dribble in and shoot the midrange.
2. Antony Newman Gomez – Hesperia 2025
Newman Gomez was a consistent shooting threat off the catch. He did well moving off the ball, spotting up and floating to the corners. Also able to dribble in closer and shoot the midrange when the defense closes out. Can put the ball on the floor in the halfcourt and does a good job deciding when to pass and when to attack the paint. Fights in traffic for boards despite being slight.
3.
Lincoln Grogan

– Mater Dei Catholic 2026
Grogan has a quick release and is a consistent shooter from three-point range. He’s a good ball-handler too and can create for himself off the dribble. Comfortable being a lead guard/playmaker. Does a good job pushing the ball in transition. Was able to attack downhill as well. Able to dribble against defensive pressure.
4. Mazi Mosley – St. Francis 2024
Mosley was a primary shot creator for his team. Comfortable creating his own shot and getting baskets. But what really stood out to me was his playmaking. He has very good vision in the halfcourt and is constantly looking for his teammates. He was a good facilitator on the break as well. He sees the entire floor very well and is unselfish/looks to make the right pass.
