Class of 2026
Isaiah Whitehead Isaiah Whitehead 5'8" Marist | 2026 IL (Marist)
Though he stands at 5’8″, Whitehead is a prime example of not judging a player based on their height. With Chicago Lockdown this past summer, Whitehead displayed he’s capable of leading a team from the point guard position. He communicates effectively with his teammates and has a ball-handling package that is quick and flamboyant, but both are coupled with his shot making ability which includes off-balance lay-ins and a confident stroke from outside the key. Marist has a promising guard in their hands and should be excited for Whitehead to continue developing into a solid athlete.
Jerome Delaney Jerome Delaney 6'3" | SG OPRF | 2026 State IL (OPRF)
Delaney, now suiting up for Oak Park River Forest this upcoming season following his transfer from Fenwick, is a noteworthy addition to the team. Standing tall at 6’3″, he boasts a more imposing and lengthy presence in comparison to his fellow guards. His has a smooth, left-handed jumper, which has consistently set him apart on the court. Delaney appears to possess a basketball IQ that puts him a step ahead of his peers, and this advantage often translates into mismatch opportunities, especially when facing shorter opponents. His talent has not gone unnoticed, as he has already secured a Division 1 offer from Eastern Illinois, a testament to his prowess. Furthermore, Delaney’s prominence as the focal point of his AR Elite team throughout the summer underlines his ability to lead and excel on the basketball court.
Jack Dempsey (Oak Lawn)
Dempsey had a fantastic summer on the Prep Hoops Circuit, consistently being a reliable scorer for Chicago Lockdown . The 6’2″ lefty guard, constantly moves on offense, creates sufficient space for his shot, or utilizes cuts and screens to open up the offense. Dempsey places himself in positions to be successful, but that is aided by his determination to win and compete at a high level every moment he’s on the court. With his craftiness and overall raw talent, Dempsey will be a strong addition for Oak Lawn, providing skill on both ends and a competitive heart that doesn’t go unnoticed.
Class of 2025
Rae’Qwon Rogers (Bowen)
An explosive 6’0″ point guard, Rogers is a true force when it comes to attacking downhill and turning the corner on opponents. His prowess lies in his ability to seamlessly navigate his way into the paint, where he elevates and finishes at the rim with finesse. What sets him apart is his mid-air adjustments, allowing him to elude block attempts and finish each play with style and creativity. In transition, he truly shines, leaving everyone in the dust as he sprints down the floor and scores with unwavering toughness and determination. As a passer, he possesses great vision, making him a reliable playmaker for his teammates. Beyond his exceptional driving ability, he has also expanded his shooting range behind the arc, adding another dimension to his game. He’s poised to make a significant impact on the court, with the versatility and skills to excel in various facets of the game.
EJ Breland EJ Breland 6'0" | PG St. Patrick | 2025 State IL (St. Patrick)
Breland, a standout point guard, earned well-deserved ESCC All-Conference honors last season and is now gearing up for his third varsity season, demonstrating his remarkable talent and commitment to the game. During the summer, he dedicated his efforts to Grind Family Chicago, further enhancing his already impressive skillset. Breland excels as a playmaker when the ball is in his hands, displaying ball-handling finesse that allows him to navigate past defenders with ease. His speed enables him to penetrate into the paint swiftly and finish plays effectively. On the offensive end, he assumes the role of a commanding presence, consistently making impactful plays and showcasing his ability to score from all three levels of the court. Breland’s continued development promises an exciting season ahead.
Cameron Thomas Cameron Thomas 6'3" | PG Mount Carmel | 2025 State IL (Chicago Mt. Carmel)
Thomas, having returned to Illinois after a year in South Carolina, brings with him a full repertoire of scoring abilities and a desire to help Mt. Carmel pursue a state championship this season. Standing at 6’3″, he operates as a dynamic combo guard with a diverse array of scoring techniques, effectively dominating at every level of the game. Notably, his passing skills have seen significant improvement as he consistently scans the floor to involve and uplift his teammates. What truly sets Thomas apart is his relentless motor that seemingly never runs out of fuel. He’s a competitor who can impose his physicality and quickness on defenders, making him a formidable presence on both ends of the court. With Thomas in the lineup, Mt. Carmel has a potent weapon at their disposal as they aim for championship glory.
