Today we cover the DAC, consisting of all Durham area schools, led by Jordan, Hillside, and some others. Check out our picks for their all-conference team below.
Last Season Stats – 8.1 PPG, 4,7 APG, 36% 3FG
Ross is poised to be Jordan’s leader on the court this season with the departure of several notable names, combined with his quick rise this summer. He showed to the state why he should be regarded as a top point guard with his elite passing ability, vision, and creativity despite his less than ideal size. Also a capable shooter and gets his shot off with accuracy when left open and can get hot in a hurry. Defensively really makes guys work with his low center of gravity and aggressiveness.
Last Season Stats – 14.9 PPG, 3.5 APG, 2.0 SPG
Braswell started at Durham Academy but has really blossomed as a dogged lead guard at Hillside recently. He’ll be expected to pick up more of the scoring load with the loss of Devin Sims Devin Sims 6’5″ | SF The Burlington School | 2025 State NC but has the capacity to, with him knocking down shots with consistency, especially three pointers. He made 45 last year and has shown his ability to be a more than capable shooter. Also a scrappy defender who moves his feet extremely well and has a general athleticism and length to disrupt guards on that end.

David Mirikwe David Mirikwe 6'1" | CG Chapel Hill | 2024 State NC
Last Season Stats – 9.4 PPG, 3.4 APG, 2.4 SPG
Mirikwe will lead the charge for Chapel Hill this year after posting a solid stat line as a junior for them. Where it starts for him is as an on ball defender who just creates pressure and chaos for opposing ball handlers. He brings both quickness and physicality to that spot and isn’t deterred if he picks up a foul, is beaten badly, or slips up one time. On offense he is crafty and a good facilitator for his teammates, showing capable tempo and poise to run the offense smoothly.
Corey Hairston Jr Corey Hairston Jr 6'2" | CG Riverside-Durham | 2024 State NC .

Last Season Stats – 16.8 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 2.3 APG
Hairston is a name that should tear up the DAC this winter as the leading returner scorer in the conference and a pure bucket getter. He’s best getting downhill and finishing either in the painted area or in the mid-range. Key to this is his ability to handle the ball and break down his opponents off the dribble quickly and tightly. Also a leader on and off the court who picks his team up and carries them through good times and bad.
Drew Johnson
Drew Johnson
Last Season Stats – 5.9 PPG, 1.4 RPG, 26 3PM
Johnson is also expected to blossom into a key piece for Jordan this season in the backcourt alongside Derek Ross. He’s got floor general components to his game as well with good IQ and pace to his game. However, I’ll expect to see him play more off the ball and show off his knack for scoring at multiple spots. He primarily gets there with a combo of top line speed and initial burst that leaves defenders on their heels.
