The event featured high level competition and great games, as well as prospects for colleges of all levels moving forward.
Here’s a look at part three of some of the top 2025 performers from the VA schools at the event.
Chance Mallory Chance Mallory 5'10" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2025 State #73 Nation | 5’8” PG | STAB
Mallory had one of the biggest summers of anyone in VA, emerging as a nationally ranked prospect and picking up double digit high major offers in doing so, and while he hadn’t touched a basketball in a month as he’s been playing football you wouldn’t have been able to tell as he still put on an absolute show! Mallory is as skilled as they come and he showed his all-around offensive game creating off the bounce for himself and others, making shots from well beyond the line and getting downhill while getting to the line often. While his height may fool some people into thinking he’s a liability defensively, he dominates that side of the ball as he has great instincts and is always in the right place at the right time.
Austin Williford Austin Williford 6'4" | CG Saint Anne’s Belfield | 2025 State #137 Nation | 6’5” WF | STAB
Williford is another player for this STAB team that has been playing football, but the way he played this weekend makes me believe he’ll have a breakout season and isn’t far from reaching the high major offers he’s capable of when people see the way he’s improved. He’s been on the radar already as a high motor and athletic two way guard who can lock up the other team’s best perimeter player, rebounds well on both ends and do all the little things to help his team win, but now he’s starting to round out his offensive game and it’s starting to get scary to see him reach his potential. He scored the ball well from all three levels, getting to spots and hitting fall aways in the midrange, knocking down shots off the catch from deep and using his athleticism to finish at and above the rim.
Danzelle Coles Danzelle Coles 6'5" | SG St Anne Belefield | 2025 State | 6’3” CG | STAB
Coles is the new addition to this STAB team that went to the VISAA D1 State Championship game last year, and the former All State guard at Highland Springs brings yet another offensive punch to the Saints in the backcourt. He excelled as the third option as he got a lot of isolation situations and showed his ability to create separation off the bounce and get into his shot, while also working off the ball to get open where he can knock down shots from deep when he’s left open. He’s a natural athlete who can make plays on the defensive end and jump passing lanes, and he’ll thrive in their up tempo system where they space the floor and give their guards a lot of freedom.
Jordan Watlington Jordan Watlington 6'5" | SF Menchville | 2024 State | 6’3” WG | Menchville
Watlington is a 2024 that I forgot to mention in the standouts but the way he played I couldn’t leave him out completely (my apologies Jordan). He’s been a pivotal part of Menchville’s success over the past few years and with the exodus of their two division one guards who graduated last season he’ll step into the go-to role for the Monarchs. At 6’3” he’s a powerfully built guard who uses his strength and athleticism to get downhill aggressively and he loves to play through contact where he can finish in traffic and gets to the line often. He is a good rebounder and defender who plays with great energy, an unselfish playmaker off the bounce and he has improved in the consistency in his shot over the past few years too.
RJ Jones | 6’2” CG | VA Academy
Jones is a player to keep an eye on with this VA Academy team, as he is a very talented guard who has a lot of raw ability and is starting to round his game out moving forward. The 6’2” combo is a big time athlete who thrives in transition with his end-to-end speed and athletic finishing ability, and he showed a lot of promise as an isolation scorer with a good handle and the ability to create space. He made tough shots from multiple levels and he competed on both ends of the floor too.
