Our next team feature are the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders, out of the greater Orlando area. The Highlanders look to improve on their 2022-2023 season where they lost in the regional quarterfinals to Cocoa.
Head Coach: Ben Fratrik, 14th Season (7th at Lake Highland Prep)
Class: 4A
2022-2023 Record: 16-12
Key Returners: Julian Clarke Julian Clarke 6’0″ | SG Lake Highland Prep | 2024 State FL 6-1 PG (2024). Clarke, is a recent UNC-Asheville commit who likes to push the basketball in transition every opportunity he gets. He plays with an explosive pace and can knock down shots across all three levels and can create space with his own playmaking. On the defensive end, Clarke is a disruptor in the passing lanes where he plays with active hands and quick feet. He is also a very good on-the-ball defender making havoc for opposing guards to get a solid shot off.
Key Returners: Kellan Lewis 6-0 SG (2024). The Hampton University commit is a quick and shifty guard whether he is guarding on the ball or off the ball. He is a solid ball-handler on the offensive end where he displays a good IQ on whether to pass versus shoot the basketball. He has continued to increase his percentage shooting from the perimeter since the start of his junior season. Lewis can also score off dribble drives as well as on the attack. Look for Lewis to share the primary point guard role with Julian Clarke Julian Clarke 6’0″ | SG Lake Highland Prep | 2024 State FL this season for Lake Highland Prep.
Key Addition: Michael Madueme 6-2 SF (2026). Madueme transferred from Lake Nona to Lake Highland Prep during the off-season and provides good basketball instincts right away as a sophomore. Madueme has good size, length and athleticism for his size where he is a good presence especially on the offensive glass. Madueme has a knack where he can guard mismatches using his length whether it’s in the paint or out on the perimeter. On the offensive end, he can finish at the front of the rim without flaws and has also continued to improve his outside shooting.
Highlights
Key Addition: Shiva Atwal 6-5 CG (2026). Atwal comes to Lake Highland Prep from Windermere Prep where they reached the Class 3A Championship Game last season. Atwal is one of the purest left-handed shooters in the state who continues to expand his threat to shoot well from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, he brings a solid frame and length where he can go get the rebound with just about any of them. Atwal is also considered to be an above-average passer for his size and displays a great IQ when he is out on the floor. Atwal currently holds an offer from Stetson University.
RJ Ingram
RJ Ingram
Sleeper Prospect: RJ Ingram 6-0 CG (2026). Ingram became a full-time starter at the midway point of his freshman season where he had four double-digit scoring games for Lake Highland Prep. Ingram is a very good on-the-ball defender where he can disrupt and force steals which turned into baskets on the offensive end. On the offensive end, Ingram has a high IQ on whether to shoot versus pass the basketball as well as be an underrated rebounder for his size.
