Our next team feature are the Clearwater Calvary Christian Warriors. The Warriors finished with a 22-6 record in 2022-2023 losing to Brooks-DeBartolo in the Class 3A, Region 3 Semifinals.
Head Coach: Keb Burley, 12th Season
Class: 3A
2022-2023 Record: 22-6
Key Returners: Daniel MacGregor Daniel MacGregor 5’11” | PG Clearwater Calvary Christian | 2024 State FL 6-1 PG (2024). The Stetson University commit has the ability to score in a variety of ways whether it’s attacking downhill or off the catch. MacGregor shows a lot of strength and toughness on the offensive end as he plays with a pure amount of physicality. On the defensive end, MacGregor has very good movement and has a knack for making havoc for opposing guards forcing them to take an off-balance shot. On the offensive end, MacGregor has a high IQ and knows when to shoot versus pass the ball to an open teammate.
Key Returners: Ace Taylor Ace Taylor 6’4″ | SF Calvary Christian | 2024 State FL 6-6 SF (2024). Taylor is at his best when he is attacking the basket finishing with both hands around the rim. He does occasionally shoot it from the perimeter as well as the mid-range but will look to gain more confidence shooting across all three levels this season. On the defensive end, he is a solid rebounder for his size and is very quick at getting the basketball in transition. He is also very disruptive and active in the passing lanes where he can get steals which turned into baskets on the offensive end.
Owen Ingerick
Owen Ingerick
Key Addition: Owen Ingerick 6-1 CG (2025). Ingerick comes to Calvary Christian from Berkeley Prep where he was running the primary point guard position. Ingerick brings a high IQ and is very coachable on the floor where he has a knack for playing unselfish getting his teammates involved. He could be a viable threat to score on all three levels on the offensive end, as well as defend at a high level.
Key Addition: Madden Geiger Madden Geiger 6’9″ | SF Calvary Christian | 2027 State FL 6-8 PF (2027). Geiger has all the tools to become a viable prospect as he has great length, size and athleticism where it displays on both ends of the floor. Geiger is a stretch-four who can knock down shots from beyond the arc as well as finish above the rim at a high rate. On the defensive end, he brings a ton of versatility where he can be seen guarding on-the-ball or on the interior. Look for Geiger to make an impact right away as he will help lead a veteran group in Calvary Christian this upcoming season.
Ethan Sabec
Ethan Sabec
Sleeper Prospect: Ethan Sabec 6-6 SG (2026). The 6-6 sophomore shooting guard has the potential to be a third-scoring option this season behind Daniel MacGregor Daniel MacGregor 5’11” | PG Clearwater Calvary Christian | 2024 State FL and Ace Taylor Ace Taylor 6’4″ | SF Calvary Christian | 2024 State FL . Sabec shows great handles and a high IQ for his size showing he can knock down shots across all three levels. On the defensive side, his mechanics and his rebounding ability have continued to improve over the course of the summer and early stages of fall. Sabec plays under control and doesn’t force many mistakes when he has the basketball in his hands.
