You have to love the effort Eli plays with. Listed at 5-foot-10, Pippins’ stature doesn’t deter him. He flies around the floor with great energy. In a win over Union Grove, it was Eli’s relentless effort as an offensive rebounder that stood out. Pippins finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds showcasing a tremendous nose for the ball.
Max drilled five threes en route to 25 points and 9 rebounds. Young was feeling it from well beyond the arc. He is a reliable floor spacer that also rebounds well for his size. He has sank nine threes over five games.
D-III schools immediately put Khaven on their radar after his breakout performance in an 86-56 rout of Union Grove. Cochran stood out last season as a perimeter scorer, a very good shooter from the mid-range and three-point line. On Sunday however, it was his improved athleticism that wowed everyone in attendance. Cochran had five dunks on his way to finishing with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals.
Grant’s growth in the fall league has been something to watch. Each week he gets more and more comfortable. He was at his best in Week 5, erupting for 21 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. The freakishly bouncy lefty hit a pair of threes and had a handful of dunks. His inside-out offensive game gives him a high long-term ceiling and makes Darlington a legitimate threat to contend for a state title.
It’s probably a safe bet to anoint Taj as the frontrunner for Class 6A Freshman of the Year. His dominance continues to expand weekly. Against previously undefeated Lithia Springs, Saragba was unstoppable with 22 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. His size, motor and athleticism will propel him. Saragba even stepped outside to hit a three as well.
