The event, was held at Hoop City, the home of West Coast Select and featured some of the top players in the rankings. Players participated in drills, and then competed 5 v 5. The simulated event gave an opportunity to get a deep look at several prospects.
Looked like the best prospect at the event. Oba has a good combination off size and athleticism. He was deadly accurate from behind the three point line, showed defensive versatility defending the biggest player on the floor, while serving time as the primary ballhandler for his team. He rebounded, and played with energy and activity.
Highlights
One of the most unique players I’ve evaluated in some time. He doesn’t have one specific skill that you can call elite, however he grades out at above average in a lot of categories. He can create for himself, has a tight handle, is shifty, and can score in 1 v 1 situation. He doesn’t have blazing speed, but can glide past quick defenders. He’s a knock down catch and shooter, but also has the step back combinations that tough shot makers have. He’s slight of frame, but is a dogged on ball defender. Overall he’s consistently productive, which may be his best trait. Stockrising kind of day for Caesar.
Highlights
An Alpha amongst Alpha’s. Part of Ceasar’s stockrising was his willingness to go at Jefferson. Make no mistake, the junior guard takes backward steps to no one. Jefferson was a tempo changing PG, who was brilliant with his mid range, and did a tremendous job of drawing and dishing. He oozes competitiveness, seeming to run toward every game winning shot during the run.
Highlights
I was throughly impressed with Cooper’s shooting ability. He was flawless shooting the ball from the corner, serving as the runs biggest floor spacer. He sprayed it around from other areas but without a doubt he’s found a home on the corner. His size and lenght combined with his super power gives him a chance to be one of the state’s top 3 and D guys.
Highlights
Aquiningoc is a different type of floor spacer, serving the role of jitterbug PG. He was lights out in catch and shoot situations, but also showed some ability to shoot it off the move. The senior guard made several shots off pullups as well as when he was the receiver on DHO action.
Highlights
He moves a lot better than he did a year ago and you have to give Bright credit for getting up in down in a fast paced scrimmage setting. He rebounded effortlesy but also showed terrific mobility, sprinting the floor and catching the ball and finishing.
