Continue ReadingThe Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo has become an annual event that rivals any put on throughout the year in the Hoosier State. On Sunday afternoon and evening at the Noblesville Boys & Girls Club nearly 1500 of the states best Class of 2024, 2025, and 2026 prospects came to display their skills in front of many of the most influential people in Indiana High School Basketball. This event is the premier way to get “on the radar” prior to the high school season. Over the next week or so it will become clear why we always say “nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops Indiana.” With that said, here are the player evaluations from Team 1 of the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo.
***With nearly 150 prospects at our event, I was able to watch 12 of the 16 teams live. Since the event, I’ve gone back to watch the other four on BallerTV in order to complete all of the player evaluations. However, as you can imagine, this is not the easiest task. There were some late player additions and walk-ups that threw a wrench into some rosters. So, if you notice that a name is wrong and/or a player is missing an evaluation please reach out to Brandon Ramsey at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or reach out via DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and I will resolve any issues. Thanks for your understanding and for participating in the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo!***

This small, thin point guard from Muncie Central High School proved to be unafraid at mixing it up amongst bigger defenders on Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo. Taylor had a couple of impressive drives showcasing a quick left-to-right crossover that he used to get into the paint. Later in the game he finished a really tough And-1 at the end of yet another drive to the basket. The 5’7″ lead guard impressed with his quickness and toughness at our event.
Kalann Brown

This smaller point guard out of Rock Creek Academy in southern Indiana helped facilitate offense for his team and did a good job playing without turning the ball over. Brown had a tough drive to the basket and finished through a lot of contact. He is shifty off of the bounce, displayed good court vision, and was a willing passer at the end of his drives. The 5’9″ floor general was a solid performer at the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo on Sunday evening.
Day is a talented shooter that put his perimeter skills on display Sunday afternoon and evening at the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo. The 5’11” guard out of Jasper High School has good footwork when moving off of the ball, cuts hard to get open off of screening action, and has a quick release. He knocked in a couple of tough shots and is a consistent shot-maker from deep. Day also showed his willingness to help in the defensive rebounding efforts from the perimeter.
This talented prospect made waves recently after the announcement of his transfer from New Haven, where he averaged 8.7 points per game as a freshman, to Kokomo High School. He will certainly help improve the Wildkats backcourt. Hammel is very athletic, aggressive offensively, and uses his explosiveness to get up and finish around the rim at the end of his drives. He does a very good job of getting downhill and attacking the basket off of the dribble. The 6’2″ guard was one of the more impressive prospects at our event on Sunday.
Highlights
One of the top performers at the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo, this 6’5″ shooter had his skills on full display throughout the event. Klopfenstein is a big time catch-and-shoot threat as he showed by knocking in three first half three-point attempts in a game that I watched. He made one from each corner off of the catch and then made his third from the trail spot in the secondary break. His combination of size, length, and high-level shooting ability makes him a very intriguing long-term prospect. Should have a breakout sophomore season at Terre Haute North.
Highlights
Hill has a strong, athletic build in the backcourt that helps him handle the ball through contact and penetrate the defense consistently off of the dribble. The 5’11” Scecina guard was a willing and able passer at the end of his drives with some nice dump offs to teammates for easy buckets. Additionally, Hill was active on the defensive end of the floor showcasing good hands and activity in the passing lanes. It was a solid all-around showing for Hill in the backcourt for Team 1.
One of the better unsigned seniors at the event on Sunday, this Fort Wayne Snider product proved why he should be on a lot of small college recruiting lists heading into the high school season. The 6’3″ guard is a smooth, fluid athlete that plays with pace as a ball handler, has the size to go finish through traffic at the end of his drives, and is a good jump shooter. He made several mid-range jump shots and knocked in a three at the top of the key as well. Hart should have a big senior season and was very impressive at our showcase.
This athletic, physical wing from Noblesville High School is a tough matchup for opposing defenses with his combination of size, strength, and skill. He can bully smaller defenders around the basket while also possessing the perimeter skill to score consistently from beyond the arc. Vetor attacks closeouts well, finishes through contact in the paint, and plays with such a high motor on both ends of the floor. The 6’3″ wing was one of the better defenders on his team and made several high IQ plays on that end of the floor.
