Continue ReadingThe lefty, jitterbug PG stood out for Durango. Was able to switch up the tempo of the game, using good speed to blow by defenders and get into the paint. He also showed that he was able to remain effective at slower paces, getting the team organized in it’s half court sets.
Like the energy Smith played with. He’s a long armed athlete, that showed finishing ability, but his best trait was his defensive versatility. Smith was able to defend perimeter players, true PG’s as well as taller interior players.
Highlights
Reece already opened eyes with his crazy athleticism. Then he took it to another level, hammering home a thunderous dunk on a 7 footer. Reece’s R&J ability combined with the playmaking he showed make him one of the more exciting players entering the 4A season.
Macklin may have earned himself a spot on my all Glue guy team. He used a quick first jump, to come up with several in traffic rebounds, and 50/50 balls. The energy he played with was impressive.
Gomez is an Alumni of the LV Middle School Combine. He has terrific positional size. and impacted games on both ends of the floor. He defended almost every position, and was able to score using a nice pull up mid range jumper. He was also one of the best grab and go players during the event.
Gil isn’t really a fresh face as I saw him a few weeks ago at the Labor Day Tournament. He was suited up for Gorman this weekend, and looks like a nice addition to the Gaels. Gill made a couple of threes, showed a handle and was able to score by slashing to the rim.
