did his best to help facilitate the offense for the Trailblazers, with mixed results. He was able to get into the paint on some of his takes, but Liberty often swarmed him with multiple defenders. However, he still managed to hit a few tough shots despite their strong defense. He also gave good effort all game long and made a couple of plays on defense.

has many of the attributes and skills that you look for in a defender. He’s long, athletic, and he always seems to be hustling. His lateral quickness and wingspan helps him cover both guards and forwards. He can also rack up points on offense by getting downhill. If you’re looking to watch him play this summer, he is running with Team Decisive.

has some high level athleticism and plays hard nose defense. When I watched his games this past season, I noticed that moves very efficiently, which allows him to cover more ground than his opponents expect. He also has a high motor, and will do his best to come up with deflections or steals if there’s an opportunity. While defense is his strong suit in my opinion, he can also do a bit of scoring when he gets out in transition.

Gomez played lock down defense in Durango’s first game of the Holiday Classic. He matched up with the Upland point guard and was constantly pressuring him. The pressure paid off as well, as Gomez picked his pocket a couple of times. Gomez also scored some transition points off the steals. It was an impressive performance from the junior.

Gomez might be the best athlete on this list. He moves extremely well for a guy his size. He often scores off of drives to the rim, and not many guys are able to jump with him when he goes to lay it up or dunk. Gomez can also play some quality defense. He often applies good ball pressure and comes up with a lot of rebounds.

Key Area Of Improvement: Perimeter Defense
Gomez has gone from a player that is a good defender, to one that could be a great defender. He is athletic, has long arms and plays hard. What is most impressive about his improved defense is how effortlessly he defended both perimeter and interior players alike.

Gomez is a wing that plays with a motor. It showed up most on the defensive end, as he did a good job guarding wings in space. His athleticism allowed him to be effective in transition, finishing breaks at the rim.

Gomez had a strong year against 5A competition. Really looking to evaluate his physical growth, as the wing could develop into a player with good positional size. His ability to dribble, pass and shoot effectively in a 6’4 – 6’5 frame, make him a player to watch.
