There are plenty of unknowns with this freshman class and a lot of kids I’d like to see more of. Here’s a look at some 2027s that have peaked my interest and could be top players in the class, long term.
Langhi is intriguing for a lot of reasons as a prospect. A big wing who is only going to get bigger, Matthew is the son of former Mr Basketball Dan Langhi. Matthew is following in the footsteps of a Marshall County legend who also won SEC Player of the Year at Vanderbilt and played in the NBA as a stretch 4 before stretch 4s were as much of a thing as they are now. Obviously those are gigantic shoes to fill but I’m interested to see what kind of player the younger Langhi turns out to be.
Highlights
One of the leading scorers for 2027s playing up last season, Adkins averaged over 11 points per game for Elliott County and is primed for another big year as a freshman. Lake is a player I’d like to see more of as it’s hard to get a great evaluation off of just the freshman camp we had last month.
Moore is a shifty and quick guard who is a likely starter for a Todd Central team that could be a sleeper in the 4th region. Keshawn was very impressive with the ball in his hands at our freshman camp and I can definitely see him causing havoc on the top of the press for Todd. If Keshawn can play beyond his years, the Rebels will be a dangerous team and could win the 4th region All A.
Flinchum scored over 700 points as an 8th grader at Jackson City last season and has transferred to Wolfe County for his freshman campaign. Corey excelled at getting to the free throw line last season and averaged 5 makes per game at 88% for the season. At this point, Flinchum is the most heralded prospect in the class that I have yet to see play.
