In this series, we will be a look at some quick hitters, the top player, potential breakout player, other roster roster members and notable games of the upcoming season. For today’s spotlight, we take a look at the Fort Wayne Wayne Generals.
Quick Hitters
- Finished 21-5 last season.
- Lost to Kokomo in Semi State
- Head coach Byron Pickens left program in offseason. No coach has been hired as of yet.
- Considered one of the favorites in Class 4A to win state.
Top Player: Jevon Lewis
Lewis returns as the senior leader and overall best player for Wayne this upcoming season. He is such a dynamic guard that is a big time scorer off of the dribble despite his size and provided to be a high-assist playmaker both through high school and AAU. Last season as a junior, Lewis averaged 16.6 points and 6.4 assists per game and helped lead Wayne to Semi-State. At 5’9, he may be on the shorter end, but with his skill he is one of the best lead guards in the state. Currently has an offer from Saint Francis and is expected to get more this season.
Potential Breakout Player: Chase Barnes Chase Barnes 6'1" | PG Fort Wayne Wayne | 2025 State #355 Nation IN
Barnes has proven to be one of the top guards in the in-state 2025 class. He is a dynamic guard can play both on or off of the ball, has excellent athleticism, and has showcased elite talent for scoring the basketball. Barnes is one of the more explosive athletes in the state and gets to the rim easily while also being a lock down defender. The backcourt of him and Lewis will probably be the best in the northern Indiana area. A breakout season will get him even more D1 offers.
Other Important Roster Members
- Trey Dillard Trey Dillard 6'5" | PF Fort Wayne Wayne | 2025 State IN – Dillard is going to be the third best player for the Generals this season. He is a versatile forward at 6’5 that rebounds the ball at a high level, finishes well around the rim, and showed an improved shooting touch when facing up to the basket over the summer.
- Khalyn Williams-Thomas Khalyn Williams-Thomas 5'11" | PG Fort Wayne Wayne | 2025 State IN – The 5’11 lead guard is another great rotation player for the Fort Wayne Wayne backcourt. He transferred from Concordia to Wayne for his junior season and is very athletic with a quick first step and impressive finishing ability when he gets into the paint.
- Preston Comer Preston Comer 6'4" | SF Fort Wayne Wayne | 2025 State IN – Comer will be the top wing option for Wayne. He has excellent tools as an athletic, strong wing. He attacks closeouts well off of the dribble, is dangerous in transition, and rebounds the ball well on both ends of the floor.
