Freshman Showcase: Team 5

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Saturday September 2nd we had the 1st annual inaugural&nbsp;<strong>Freshman Showcase</strong>&nbsp;at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We had exactly 51 players total in attendance with six teams of 8-9 players on a team.&nbsp;We now look at all six teams and break down each player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">We move over to Team 5:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2052368' first='Makhi' last='Anthony'] Phhoenix Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring point guard with a tight handle and skill. He can burst by his defender with his speed and quick first step. He can hit the catch three or blow by his defender and get to the basket. His passing also stands out and he will throw the dime with either hand.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146239' first='Carsyn' last='Dean'] Ironwood (Pictured) </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good sized shooting guard can blow by his opponents with his long strides in the lane. He also can hesitate and get by. He has a smooth stroke from the three with deep range and perfect ball rotation. He can use his shifty handle to get to his spots he wants to. He can pull-up from mid-range and then post up and go to work or fall away.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2165680' first='Tayshawn' last='Juarez'] Mountain View Mesa</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A wing forward who rebounds well in his area. He has quick hands on defense and he moves the ball. He has three point range with a quicker trigger off the catch. He can also blow by his defender to get to the basket and lay it in.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1986833' first='Noah' last='McKinney'] Pusch Ridge</strong> </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile and fluid wing forward. He handles the ball well and can grab a ball off the glass and take it coast to coast. He can score from all levels with perfect ball rotation on his shooting from mid to the three. He often cuts, his footwork is legit and can fall away in the post. He is a sneaky good passer and will rebound and block shots. One of the most well-rounded incoming freshmen from Tucson.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2149103' first='Kevin' last='Kuang'] AZ College Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A guard who rebounds the ball in and out of his area. He is a good passer who handles it decently to blow by his defender. He has a burst he can utilize to get downhill to score. He likes getting easy points off the glass.  </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2143671' first='Ashton' last='Musser'] St. Mary's</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The tallest player in the showcase by a lot. He is a true post player with great hands and post footwork. He has a polished drop step move and rebounds well and scores in the paint. He keeps the ball high and is a rebound king with his length and size. He will blocks shots in his area and is a good passer for position.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2149107' first='Sire' last='Saul'] Mountain View Mesa</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A forward who runs the floor and will score with either hand in the paint. He rebounds the ball well in and out of his area. He scores on runners and floaters and can dribble drive after smartly changing speeds for layups in traffic. He also hustles on both sides of the court.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2149097' first='Carter' last='Watson'] Gilbert</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A point guard who is a good passer and plays with a high IQ for the game. He runs the court well for layups and moves the ball like a guard should. He can blow by his opponents for layups and will often drive and kick it and throw up the court passes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
