Continue ReadingSeverson is a high IQ scoring wing with good size and length at 6-4. He can score from all three levels, but he doesn’t force anything. He has a great sense of when he needs to take over a game as a scorer, but he likes to let his teammates get things going first while he surveys the lay of the land and then finds his spots to attack. He has a smooth stroke both off the dribble and the catch, is a good ball-handler who can create for himself and his teammates, and he uses his length effectively on the defensive end. He averaged 20.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks a game on 50-36-87 shooting splits as a sophomore.
Highlights
A big, physical forward with good size at 6-6, Bracker was really good as a sophomore for the Lynx, averaging 10.1 points and 9.1 rebounds a game on 47-39-69 shooting splits. He has soft hands and provides some versatility as a defender, with the lateral movement to hold his own on the perimeter and the size to bang in the paint. The ability to stretch the floor with some consistency was a nice addition to his game last season.
A 6-3 scorer, Higgins averaged 8.6 points and 1.3 assists a game as a sophomore for the Lynx and should step into a significant role as both a scorer and facilitator as a junior. He’s a good finisher around the rim, can shoot it from the arc, and is a solid team defender.
Sternberg figures to step into a major role as a junior for the Vikings following the graduations of Brayden Lund, Kyle Sternberg, and Cole Scheffler. Sternberg averaged 6.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.0 steals a game as a sophomore role player, and he does a great job using his length to impact the game on both ends. He’s not a great shooter at this stage, but he finishes well around the rim and rebounds well on both ends.
Hoyt was a key player for the Panthers as a sophomore, averaging 8.0 points and 3.9 rebounds a game. He was also a standout at our Top 250 Expo a few weekends ago, showing a good feel for the game and the ability to play with or without the ball in his hands as well as making an impact as a defender, putting his long 6-3 frame to good use on that end of the floor.
A 6-2 wing who can do a little bit of everything for the Chargers, Kading averaged 8.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists a game as a sophomore, shooting nearly 45% from the floor. He can create for his teammates off the dribble and he plays well with or without the ball in his hands.
Highlights
Sandbothe didn’t play varsity ball for the Lynx last season but put together a pretty good summer with Southwest Iowa Impact and should play a role for the Lynx as a junior. He’s a 6-4 combo forward who rebounds well on both ends of the floor and can defend multiple positions.
Hughes didn’t play much varsity ball for the Falcons as a sophomore but figures to become a contributor as a junior. He’s a 5-11 guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands.
A 5-10 playmaking guard who is at his best playing downhill and attacking, Gruver is coming off a strong sophomore season in which he averaged 18.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.4 steals a game. He’s not much of a shooter, but he’s a good finisher around the rim and sees the floor well.
Kelley is strong on the glass, pulling down 6.3 rebounds a game last season for the Tigers. A 6-3 forward with soft hands and a physical frame, he can also pass it a bit out of the post.
