This year, thanks to a couple reclassifications by prep school enrollments, the numbers are on the upswing. Being a premium for every level, these post play specialists typically get the first evaluator’s eyes in the gym whether it be from there stature or their command of the paint. These five bigs have already been on shortlists of several college coaches if not been offered already.
Desean Goode has been a proven winner as well as the most dependable big man in2023 WV prep hoops. Great size and versatility have presented great matchup problems for opponents. Good can shoot it from deep when necessary but his bread is buttered in the paint with swift feet and athleticism that allows him to rebound at a high rate as well as score when necessary. Comfortable facing up or back to the basket, Goode has the ability to further develop both and pose a great matchup threat at the next level. He’ll spend a prep year at Fork Union Military Academy honing his skills and building a college ready body. Goode has already had many suitors at the college ranks including high level D2’s.
Highlights
Zion Blevins Zion Blevins 6’7″ | PF Chapmanville | 2024 State WV has recently become the topic of nearly every college coach looking in WV. His size and athleticism lend itself to his development at a exceptional stretch 4 at the next level. His tremendous improvement as a player from sophomore to junior years was put on great display in the WV High School State Tournament this past spring as he proved to be a mismatch for anyone that challenged. D3 and NAIA have him squarely on their radar while D2 coaches are warming up to this 6’7″ prospect. His physical development through his senior year will determine the recruiting path he ultimately takes as a player.

Brandon Dennison Brandon Dennison 6’5″ | PF Moravian Prep | 2024 WV has quietly crept into the college recruiting circles. While his size attracts attention he has skill to match. Dennison has consistently displayed ability to slide outta the paint to face up and stroke a jumpshot or deep 3. Dennison’s post play is what is most impressive to coaches thus far. His willingness to post up and be available for entry passes adds pressure to defenses and he has the skill to finish strong around the rim with some strong refined moves. Definitely can develop into a stretch four at the next level. Dennison will attend the famed Moravian Prep and reclass this year and be available in the 2024 class. Brandon is already holding offers from multiple schools.

Kwynsie Pittsnogle Kwynsie Pittsnogle 6’9″ | PF Hedgesville | 2024 State WV isn’t quite the household name as his dad in the mountain state, at least not yet. This late bloomer has recently come into recruiting conversations with several D3’s and surely getting in-state D2 looks as well. We saw him display solid skills at Pitt Jam Fest against more than formidable competition. His physical development will need to improve for the next level and when it does, his ceiling will be raised immensely. That familiar deep stroke from three makes him a zone stretching forward who can also mix it up in the paint and get some dirty work done as necessary.
Brady Anderson Brady Anderson 6’5″ | PF George Washington | 2024 State WV has quickly become one of the better power forwards in the state. Starting with a strong sophomore season, Anderson emerged as an inside force with solid size and strength. Since then, he’s added some finesse and agility to his game with mid-range jumpers and three’s while maintaining his inside presence with strong putbacks and rebounds. Anderson takes his talents this year from Ripley HS to George Washington HS for his senior campaign where his recruiting will surely blossom with several other college prospects on the GW roster.
