In previous articles, we made Notes on Teams 2, 7, 4, and 8. In this piece, we are taking an in-depth look into the players from Team 1.
Team 1 Player Notes
Ben Wiebersick Ben Wiebersick 6'0" | SG McCook Central/Montrose | 2027 State SD |6’0 F| MCC
-A good-sized player for a 2027 kid
-Picked up a sure-handed steal early in the game
-Scored in transition in traffic with a coast-to-coast lefty lay-in
-Looks like a threat in the pick-n-pop game
Boche Knight Boche Knight 5'4" | PG West Central | 2027 State SD |5’4 G| West Central
-Not the biggest but easily one of the quickest from the Showcase
-Shot a high percentage from 3-point land throughout the event
-A left-handed spark plug
-Has a lightning-quick first step when attacking his defender & basket
-Was all over the place on D, a complete pest, harassed & pressured ball handlers
-His fast and quick hands stole the rock multiple times
-Sneaky come-from-behind steal on the in-bounds after a score
-Has a noteworthy crossover move, I like how he slashed, drew attention, and kicked to shooters
-Faked the dribble handoff to beat the defense
-Scored with a 5-foot baseline jumper
-His stepback shot after the PNR looked tough, created a ton of space
-Looks to be effective in PNR situations, scores but also creates for the screener
-Delivered a 1-handed laser pass off the dribble, threaded the needle and a teammate scored
-Penetrated deeply in transition, kicked out late to a teammate, resulted in 3 pts & an unselfish pass
-Started the second half by probing the defense, drew help, kicked to KK for a triple, set the tone early
-Forced a TO early in 2nd half, rattled the cage of a ball handler for a violation
-Sliced-diced through 2 defenders, scored with a lefty kiss off the glass for an easy 2 points
-Threw a 1-handed dart off the dribble from the top of the key, 2 points for the good guys
-The next possession, Knight threw a 3/4 court bomb to Sitzer for 2 more points
-Shortly after, had another assist, he winged the ball ahead to a running teammate for another score
Carson Stratmoen |5’10 G| Dawson-Boyd (MN)
-AND1 score early in the game to get the fire brewing
-Plays light on his feet, is a mobile & smooth athlete
-Changes and shifts gears like a high-class European sports car
-Transition score early, took a foul & hit mid-air but still finished
-Impressive body control
-Shot faked into a laser-like slash down the lane for a lefty layup
-Picked up a long offensive rebound by being in the right place at the right time
-Another O-board, went up & over the D, was fouled on the putback
-It looked like he got on an elevator when rising up, made it look so easy
-Caught, ripped, glided to the hoop, scored with a runner off the glass before the D could help
-Impressive blow-by baseline drive, showed a deadly crossover step
-Scored with a baby-soft floater after 1 dribble just inside the FT-line
-Recovered quickly on defense, picked off a pass by getting back
-Threw a pretty 1/2 court diagonal pass on the run, ended up being a hockey assist, Sitzer delivered the alley-opp
-Straight line drive late, the D could not stop him, all they could do was foul to slow him down
-Hustle-back steal in transition, never gave up on a play
Kale Knudson Kale Knudson 6'0" | CG Mobridge-Pollock | 2027 State SD |5’10 G| Mobridge-Pollock
-Versatile player, a combo-guy that can do a bit of everything
-Showed his strength with a score in front of the rim with a defender in his face
-Had a blow-by drive early in the game, left his defender in the dust, elevated well to the rim
-Showed an unselfish dump-off pass in transition
-Good vision & skill
-High-post flash, caught, delivered a beautiful backdoor dime, great pass!
-Middle slash, spun back away from the D, drew a foul at the rim, tough take & spin move
Kyson Keller Kyson Keller 6'3" | SF Sheyenne | 2027 State ND |6’1 F| West Fargo Sheyenne
-Is long and lanky, built like a young Karson Ouse Karson Ouse 6'8" | SF Kindred | 2025 State #283 Nation ND
-Stole the ball on the first possession of the game
-Did quality work by pushing the ball ahead in transition
-Can hit the triple, I like how quickly he sets his feet, shoots with a good base
-Moves well without the ball, spots up, hands & feet always ready to shoot
-Blocked a shot with his long wingspan
-Entered the ball high post, stealthy went backdoor, scored lefthanded vs. 2 defenders, LOVED the cut!
-Cashed in a triple from the trail-4 spot, silky smooth shot to start the 2nd half
-Scored with run-out layup, Knight set him up with the assist
Peyton Seay Peyton Seay 5'2" | CG Bishop Ryan | 2027 State ND |5’0 G| Bishop Ryan
-Was not the biggest player on the court but never backed down, especially on D & w/ rebounding
-FEARLESS
-Creates for others off the bounce and pass
-Picked up a loose ball steal, kicked the ball ahead, and pushed the tempo in a timely manner
-Hustled up and down the floor on both ends
Trenton Sitzer Trenton Sitzer 5'10" | SG Midway-Minto | 2027 State ND |5’7 G| Midway-Minto
-Has a quick trigger, does not need much room to get a clean look
-Passed to the wing, made a shallow-cut to balance the floor, showed court awareness for such a young player
-Knows his way around the court, is smart about spacing & filling the spots
-Skilled & tight handles
-Showed excellent hustle for a long O-board, saved the ball before going out of bounds
-Pull-up 3ball, smoked it from college range, nothing but the bottom of the net!
-Swipe steal on an in-bounds pass in the fullcourt
-Had a sweet baseline slash-n-score where he snake-danced around the defense
-Made a selfless touch/lob pass for an alley-oop
-Could have shot a contested layup for himself, instead he made a highlight type of play for his team
-Scored with a ghost-cut behind the defender to score in the 2nd half
-Next possession he scored with a run-out layup in transition
-Never quit, hustled in transition late, scored with an O-board follow-up bucket
Tyler Bruske Tyler Bruske 6'3" | SF Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2027 State SD |6’2 F| Sioux Falls Jefferson
-A powerful athlete, with size & skill
-Had a physical AND1 bucket in traffic, strong take & score
-At the charity stripe early and often
-A load to handle in front of the rim
-Battles for boards on both ends
-Impressive slasher from the wing, a BIG kid but he can put it on the deck
-Alley-oop score in transition, ran hard, showed great timing & coordination
-Knocked down a catch-n-shoot 3ball in transition from the coffin corner
-Has a high arcing & soft shot from deep
-I liked how he reacted to a slasher, caught, ripped, took 1-dribble, scored with a push shot
