Freshman Showcase Preview

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The first Prep Hoops Washington Freshman Showcase tips off this Saturday and will include some of the top freshmen in the state. This will be our first look at some of these guys while others have already made a name for themselves through varsity summer league and the AAU season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2027 class rankings are still in the works and the showcase should give us a decent idea of where some of these players stand. With that in mind, here are a few names already on our radar that will be in attendance:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There is <strong>Jayden Hunt</strong> from Lake Washington who really impressed with Friends of Hoop this summer. We have a couple of standout guards who played with Spokane Elite this summer (<strong>Cameron Walls</strong>/Central Valley and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1685500' first='Karson' last='Maze']</strong>/Mead) making the trek from the Eastside. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There's a trio of Bellevue Christian freshmen high on our list, <strong>Rhett Huber</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1936885' first='Edison' last='Kan']</strong>, and <strong>Drake Penberthy</strong>. <strong>James Morgan Jr. </strong>of Black Hills caught our eye at the West Coast Clash while playing for Oly Basketball Academy and will be in attendance. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Some summer league standouts include <strong>Micah Ill-Meneese </strong>from Renton, <strong>Xavier Gatlin </strong>from Lakeside and <strong>Achilles Reyna </strong>from Eastside Catholic. There are a couple of Seattle Rotary guards we've heard a lot about (<strong>Ronnie Wiggins</strong>/Bellarmine Prep, <strong>Jimmie "Tripp" Haywood III</strong>/Bellevue). And finally, there's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2166281' first='Payton' last='Brown']</strong> from Muckleshoot Tribal School who should turn a few heads at the showcase.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A full list of attendees can be found <a href="https://events.prephoops.com/e/794/attendees">here</a>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The event should start at 3 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. at the <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/Boys+%26+Girls+Clubs+of+Bellevue+-+Hidden+Valley+Fieldhouse/@47.6273594,-122.1940922,17z/data=!3m2!4b1!5s0x54906ceda633b661:0xe826a4062821748a!4m6!3m5!1s0x54906cedb5263cf3:0xb5ff738f8f63b28b!8m2!3d47.6273594!4d-122.1915173!16s%2Fg%2F11b7c4tkgx?entry=ttu">Hidden Valley Fieldhouse</a> in Bellevue. Each player will receive headshots followed by a quick speech from the event director. Then we have eight teams splitting up to play some live 5 on 5 games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>College coaches and Prep Hoops scouts will be in attendance.
