With the 2025 class preparing for their junior season of high school basketball, we put a fresh update on our rankings for that class. In this piece we dive into guys outside the top 25 who raised their stock.
Myles Walker Myles Walker 5'9" | PG Roosevelt | 2025 State , Roosevelt
Walker’s rise was small (48 to 46) but significant in the fact that he’s going to be a major difference-maker on a potential Open Division team. The 5-foot-9 point guard is one of the best on-ball defenders in SoCal and his scrappiness when pressuring ball handlers, combined with his quick hands, creates havoc for the opponent trying to initiate offense. Walker is also an unselfish playmaker who is always looking to set teammates up.
Isaiah Carroll Isaiah Carroll 6'7" | PF Harvard-Westlake | 2025 State , Harvard-Westlake
Carroll will go from JV star to potential sixth-man on the varsity squad at Harvard-Westlake and if Section 7 is any indication what he will do in that role it bodes well for the Wolverines. The 6-foot-6 wing is a do-it-all type player who can knock down open shots, defend multiple positions, rebound, run the floor and doesn’t come in with the mindset that he needs a ton of touches. Players like that are invaluable at any level which is why Carroll jumped from 71 to 57.
Denis Woods Denis Woods 6'3" | PG Bishop Montgomery | 2025 State , Bishop Montgomery
Just when you think Bishop Montgomery is going to run out of really good players it always has someone in the pipeline – especially at the guard position. Woods, who jumped up 10 spots from 68 to 58, is the guy who will be a major impact player for the Knights as his poise, athleticism, basketball IQ and ability to get into the lane at-will fits in perfectly with how BM plays. Woods is an intriguing long-term prospect because of his rangy frame and high level pop of athleticism.
Jaison Joyce Jaison Joyce 6'5" | SF St. John Bosco | 2025 State , St. John Bosco
Joyce is another guy on this list who is going to be stepping into a bigger role with his high school team and he showed over the spring and summer that he’s ready to make a leap. The 6-foot-7 forward is one of the more explosive vertical and transition athletes that we have in SoCal which leads to easy baskets on the break, offensive rebound put-backs and defensive versatility. Joyce looked more comfortable taking catch and shoot threes when we saw him at Cali Live and if that becomes a viable part of his game he could rise even more. Joyce jumped 11 spots from 78 to 67.
