Athletic and high motor, Wilson was a game changer on both ends of the floor today. He plays above the rim, from finishing with authority, to securing rebounds (where he’s often looking for outlets) and of course blocking shots. More than just flash, when matched up with a taller, stronger player, Wilson battled to get position and deny entry passes. This led to at least one deflection and even had the quickness and explosiveness to make a recovery block one time when he was beat. A promising long term sign was the confidence he showed when draining a catch and shoot three.
Miller has long been a strong college prospect for his combination of size and shooting. In the past he’s most commonly shown spurts of good athleticism with clear lanes in transition or alley oop opportunities. Today, he looked physically stronger and quicker. He made use of those improvements with strong powerful drives, more willing to take and finish through contact. His ability to hit from three point range remains strong, and if he continues to more often play to size as a rebounder, finisher and shot blocker, Miller will be one of the top “steals” for regional small colleges.
Highlights
Clark is an intriguing stretch forward prospect. On offense, he was consistently looking to work the mid-range along with the occasional three pointer. Most often it was simple one-two dribble pull ups or catch and shoot opportunities. But there were a couple extended dribble moves that ended with promising one-legged fadeaways. Defensively the skinny forward was often given the task of covering stronger, more physical players. Clark didn’t back down and held his own, making good use of his great wingspan to impact plays. He’ll need to bulk up longterm, but the willingness to battle was a good step.
Highlights
Solid height, a good frame and quality athleticism are what first standout about Rose’s game. He uses those good physical traits to be a quick and decisive scorer, especially in the mid-range. The Northwest Classen guard didn’t over dribble today, understanding that only one or two dribbles would be needed to navigate to the mid-range or find better spots to score around the rim. The lack of wasted motion with quick decisive movements and efficient shooting made him a lethal scorer from 18 feet and in.
Who else to close out this lineup? Snow has been immense all spring and summer and that was no different today. He’s immensely impactful on both ends of the court, even blocking a shot in transition. On offense, his quick first step put pressure on defenses all game, while his outstanding body control and feel on drives allows him to find space. Snow even continued to shoot it well from distance, on pull ups and off the ball opportunities. The Yukon Miller has proved that his production, feel for the game and high level skillset far exceed concerns of his height.
