The Prep Hoops Circuit Passion Region Finals are also getting underway on Friday night at the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Prep Hoops Florida scouts Allen Pettigrew and Ross Van De Griek are on the grounds of IMG Academy. Here is who stood out on Saturday:
The 6-3 rising senior guard had an efficient shooting day for the Florida Phenoms as he can score in a variety of ways. In the game against Team Trilogy, Cook exploded for a game-high 28 points and dished out some nice assists in the 64-60 win. Cook brought a big frame and has huge athleticism as a combo guard and will be a big factor to watch going into his senior season.
Jalen Yutzy

The 6-2 combo guard brings a lot of tools with him on the court as he can play both sides of the basketball at a high level. His consistency from beyond the arc is what stood out to me as he knocked down four 3-pointers for Liberty Edge in the win over North Florida Hurricanes . Yutzy is also considered to be an underrated defender especially when he is guarding on the ball. Big senior season looming for Yutzy who looks like a real promising combo guard who has great size and frame.
The 5-10 rising junior guard is the heart and soul of the backcourt for SWFL Hoops 2024 as he is playing an age group up this weekend. Chin makes plays happen on and off the ball as he sets his teammates up and continues to make them better. His defense is what stood out to me with his ability to guard on the ball at a high level with his ability to stay in front of his opposition. He is a triple threat when it comes to scoring, rebounding and passing and is poised to have a big junior season.
Hunter Woods

The 6-8 power forward is a name you will need to know… Hunter Woods is a player who can do it all as he scores at the front of the rim and can shoot it from beyond the arc. His footwork and ability to stretch the floor is what stood out to me as he is one of the top rebounders you will find. College coaches should start attracting his radar as he gears up for his senior season.
The 6-6 forward has been poised to have a big summer so far for Elite Hustlers as he has improved his rebounding and plays with a ton of physicality. He is a strong passer for his size as well and has great handles with a soft touch around the rim on the offensive end. His length and versatility speaks volumes on the defensive end where he blocks shots and rebounds at a high rate.
Highlights
The 6-2 shooting guard is a plus shooter who plays a variety of roles at a high level. He plays with a ton of confidence and isn’t afraid to let it fly from 3-point distance. He has scored 20+ points in all three games so far here at the Passion Region Finals. His defensive display has also improved throughout the summer where he has been balanced and his ability to guard on the ball continues to get better. Expect college coaches to be on James’ radar soon as he gears up for his junior season.
