Chin is a strong, smart PG who’s a key piece for this Charlotte squad. He is an unselfish player with tremendous handles and great court vision, who looks to get his teammates involved. The 5’10” PG has great elevation and release on his jump shot, where he shots the 3-ball at a high-rate, to go along with an excellent mid-range game. Chin has sneaky bounce which allow him to attack the basket, and also be a big asset on the boards from the guard position. This is another kid who plays the game with a little swag, and you can tell he just loves being on the court.

Chin is now an electric point guard at Charlotte, and he’s looking to ramp up his recruitment chances. He’s known for his smooth jumper and fearless drives to the rim, making him a scoring threat from all over. Chin’s defensive energy is infectious; he pressures opposing guards and forces turnovers to jumpstart the transition game. With his ability to score and set up teammates, Chin could gain serious attention this season as a solid guard prospect.

The Port Charlotte transfer had a great first season with his new squad, and helped lead Charlotte to a Final Four birth in 2024. The 5’10” junior came over to an already talented Tarpons squad and fit in just perfectly with the teams strong guard play. Chin is tough, gritty player who won’t back down from any assignment, and is a pesky defender who will be in your face for 94 ft. He is a team player who’s willing to do whatever it takes to get the victory. He averaged 9.2 ppg, 1.7 rpg, and 1.3 apg, and opened regional play with a tremendous defensive effort and an 8 point performance. He followed that up with 16 points in a win over Fort Myers, and an 11 point outing in Regional Final victory over Leto. Chin who hopes to continue his strong play will be a major factor in the team’s success in Lakeland where they will face some pressure defense and strong guard play.

Jah Chin, A 5-10 junior guard is strong and shifty when he has the basketball in his hands where he makes the right plays. Chin is a true and natural three-level scorer who has displayed more confidence this year as he looks to have a big season ahead. He is a terrific finisher around the rim and is unafraid to absorb contact where he can get to the free throw line. His size doesn’t indicate how tough he is on the defensive end as well where he can guard multiple positions with his versatility. He is also an above-average rebounder for his size as well.

Taking the trek over the Peace River, Chin joins the Tarpons after starting at PG for Port Charlotte last season. Chin is a well-rounded guard who does it on both ends off the floor, and plays with real grit and passion. He will guard you for 90 feet and is just a nuisance on defense, and will look to be a catalyst for Charlotte on offense. He likes to get his teammates involved, but will also put the ball in the bucket at a high-rate and is very successful at taking it to the rim for his size. Look for Chin to fit right into this Tarpons lineup and contribute right away.

The 5-10 rising junior guard is the heart and soul of the backcourt for SWFL Hoops 2024 as he is playing an age group up this weekend. Chin makes plays happen on and off the ball as he sets his teammates up and continues to make them better. His defense is what stood out to me with his ability to guard on the ball at a high level with his ability to stay in front of his opposition. He is a triple threat when it comes to scoring, rebounding and passing and is poised to have a big junior season.
