Valdez continues his solid play throughout the Spring and into July. He picked up his first DI offer after Section 7. He’s a hard playing guard. He’s always aggressive when attacking the rim, kind of fearless, he does finish. He has handles, vision, he’s willing passer. He has a paint jumper, and 3pt range. He does good things with the ball.
Grayson has stepped up his game in the early Spring. He seems to have found a role for himself in the Monarchs starting line up helping them to titles at Cali-Live and Section 7. He’s about 6’4 with a solid body, he does the little things like boxing out, helping with rebounds, good outlet passing, and works hard to defend in the paint. He”s a corner 3 threat.
He’s an active wing forward that works well around the basket, he’ll get his fair share of offensive rebounds for put back points. He has some post moves, good hops, he’ll dunk off two feet under rim. He’s an excellent court runner finishing, and passing. He has the foot speed to guard on the perimeter, and length to defend in the post. He has a paint jumper
It’s safe to say he’s combo guard. Early when we saw him his role was to spot up looking for 3’s to knock down in transition and along the perimeter, now we’re seeing quality handles like a point guard with vision, and passing to get the ball to scores in good position. He plays fast pushing and looking in transition. He can still shoot.
Kurpinsky started the Spring with a bang, playing well at the UA Rise Session in Arizona. He’s a prospect that can knock down the 3point shot from the corners and on the perimeter. He showed a little more physicalness using his dribble to attack the basket, especially the baseline drives. He has a mid-range, catch, and off the dribble. He’s long
Highlights
He’s more of a wing/guard who has the hands to receive and finish going straight to the rim, he has good handles to go hard into paint, and maneuver his way around the paint. He’s good in transition running hard to fill and finish. He can hit the open 3ptr. He has good foot speed to defend out on the perimeter.
A solid point guard who plays physical. He goes hard into the paint using his body and leverage. He sees the floor as well as any guard when pushing in transition. He has a pull-up off the dribble, makes his free throws. He’s probably a pass guard, he can get a bucket on the drive when he makes up his mind. He does a good job running the team.
He has some athleticism in his game, he has good bounce and a quick jump going for rebounds. He’s still tuning his overall skill set but does some good things on the court. He has good drives attacking from the baseline, he runs hard to finish in transition. He has good foot speed to guard on the perimeter and good strength to defend around the rim at the 16U level.
