At Prep Hoops Indiana, we like to dive deeper into the rankings beyond just releasing a long list of names. After a rankings update we will highlight stock-risers, new names, and much more. Part of that deeper dive includes breaking things down position-by-position. We will begin that breakdown with the point guard position.
We don’t list people as combo guards here at Prep Hoops Indiana, but admittedly Windham is about as good of a definition of that made-up position as anyone. However, for the purposes of our rankings, he is listed as a point guard. The 6’3″ lefty is an elite shooter and may even be better off of the ball at this point, but he continues to attack the basket off of the dribble and showcase his playmaking ability. Regardless of what position you put him at, Windham is as good of a prospect as any guard in the class.
Highlights
An explosive, left-handed point guard from Franklin High School, Davis has had a great summer with Indy Heat on the EYBL Circuit. Davis’ ability to make plays off of the bounce has led to several more Division I offers rolling in. He is the #2 point guard in the class now, and really the top “pure” point guard, and the #4 overall prospect in the class.
Buckner is a new face here in the Hoosier State as he transferred in to La Lumiere from St. Ignatius in northeast Ohio. He is a dynamic scoring guard that has earned offers from the likes of Albany, Cleveland State, Duquesne, George Mason, and Kent State. The 6’1″ guard is also considered a 3-star prospect by a couple of the national ranking services. We look forward to seeing more of him now that he is here in Indiana.
A Notre Dame Football commit, this Fort Wayne North Side High School prospect is also one of the top basketball prospects in the state. We haven’t gotten to see him much recently as he didn’t play AAU due to his summer football workouts, but his track record still places him as one of the ten best prospects in the state. There might not be a better pure athlete in the state than Johnson.
Dunham is getting some work done on a shoulder injury now that has lingered for a while, but he did get through the summer playing with a very talented Indiana Elite squad on the 3SSB circuit. He is a very strong guard that takes on contact well besides not being the biggest guy in the backcourt. The 6’0″ Evansville Christian lead guard stuffs the stat sheet and is very skilled with the ball in his hands. Earned an offer from SIU-Edwardsville over the summer.
