Continue ReadingOn Friday night the 76ers announced that power forward Montrezl Harrell would be returning for 2023-24 season after he agreed to a one year $2+ million deal. Needless to say, this was a disappointing move by Daryl Morey as Harrell was statistically one of the worst players in the Association last year.
Below we assembled a review of six prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania who we believe would perform at a high level as the backup power forward for the 76ers next season.
Luke Bevilacqua

National / Center: Bevilacqua is a 240-pound double-double machine (16 ppg. & 9 rpg.; 1st Team All-FSL selection) who is more than just an elite low post threat. He is an extremely athletic, possesses good rim to rim speed and a high basketball IQ. Bevilacqua’s smooth face up game and the ability to drain threes provide a level of versatility that far exceeds Harrell’s. Bevilacqua holds a slew of DI offers.

Philly Pride
UAA on the grassroots circuit. So, despite his recent transfer to LUHI, we are going to include him in this post. This stretch-4 style forward averaged 10.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for Westtown School last season. He is an athletic and multi-skilled lefty who is a matchup nightmare. He runs the floor like a wing, shoots the 3-ball at a high percentage and can bang on the interior. Gilhool’s mid-range game is unstoppable too. Gilhool now holds over a dozen DI offers.
Tristen Guillouette

– 6’9″ / 2024 / St. Joseph’s Prep / NJ Scholars Elite / Power Forward: During the 2022-23 season Guillouette averaged 10 points and 9 rebounds to go along with 3 blocks per game. He shot an extremely impressive 54.5% from the field. Guillouette’s positioning skills and footwork are college ready. Once he catches the ball on the interior, it is game over for his opponents. Guillouette can back a defender down for two points, power up through contact for a bucket, score over defenders with his soft flip hook, or use his quick spin moves to get points. He is a beast on the boards, an intimidating rim protector and an underrated passer. Guillouette holds offers from Saint Joe’s, Fairfield, Towson, Hofstra, Seton Hall and more.
Justin Houser

Phelps School | 2025
State
PA
– 7’0” / 2025 / Phelps School / NJ Scholars Elite / Center: Houser (9 ppg.; 4.7 rpg.; 2 bpg.) is a legitimate 7-footer with versatile offensive skills. He can produce on the interior via post ups and the offensive glass. On the perimeter he is a three-point threat and can play in pick-n-pop action. Plus, Houser runs the floor well and can finish with authority through contact. Thus, he is effective in transition too. On defense, Houser is an intimidating shot blocker and a dominating rebounder. He holds offers from Penn State, Lafayette, Mount St. Mary’s and NJIT.

– 6’8″ / 2025 / Roman Catholic / NJ Scholars Elite / Power Forward: In 2022-23 Jackson averaged 11 points, 9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2 blocks per game while helping Roman to the PCL and District 12-6A titles as well as the 6A state championship game. So, in addition to talent, Jackson has experience winning titles. That is something the Sixers are lacking. Jackson is a traditional power forward with solid instincts and footwork. He can score at the rim with either hand. On occasion Jackson will operate out of the high post where he can score off the bounce or distribute. Jackson holds a slew of DI offers.

Team Final
EYBL / Power Forward: Sorber (Georgetown commit) owns the most polished power forward skill set in this exclusive group. He is a bully on the blocks and owns a deep bag of low post moves. He also excels at catching drop passes and finishing through contact. As a bonus, Sorber dominates the glass at both ends. In 2022-23 he posted 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 block per game while pushing AR to the 5A state semifinals. Sorber’s tremendous junior season was recognized with 1st Team All-PCL, and 1st Team 5A All-State selections.
