Continue ReadingThe June Live Period is officially behind us and it was an outstanding opportunity to see hundreds of prospects over the course of two weekends. Over that span, there were several in the 2024 class who made stout arguments for a boost in the next release of our 2025 player rankings. For this article, I’ll spotlight those names in contention.
Acaden Lewis Acaden Lewis 6'2" | PG Sidwell Friends | 2025 State #149 Nation MD | Sidwell Friends/ Team Durant
Lewis had a huge month of June between the scholastic live period and his performance at Nike Top 100 Camp. The 6’2 southpaw lead guard has shown steady progression in being able to control a game not only as a scorer, but a distributor and initiator. His ability to create space and break down his defender whenever he wants is extremely valuable when playing against pressure. He’s a capable three-level scorer, has shown his ability to make several different reads in high ball screen actions and is a spot-up shooting threat off the ball. Currently No. 9 in our rankings, it’s certain that he’ll receive a bump in the next update.
Emmanuel Kanga Lendouga Emmanuel Kanga Lendouga 6'8" | C Mt. Zion | 2025 State #135 Nation MD | Mt. Zion Prep/ DC Premier
Our first time seeing Kanga was down in Rock Hill, SC for one of his first showings with DC Premier . The motor and competitive stood out immediately as he collected rebounds by the boatload, embraced contact on his finishes around the bucket and proved to be a legitimate shot disruptor from the weak side. On a balanced Mt. Zion Prep Academy squad, Kanga verified his worth around the rim at both ends during DMV Live. Once again he was active rebounding outside of his area, ran the floor with intent and was efficient with his touches inside. The 2025 class is extremely talented and currently Kanga sits at No. 15, but the 6’9 big could see his name move up a few spots in the update.
Cam Fleming Cam Fleming 6'7" | PF St. Frances | 2025 State #207 Nation MD | St. Frances/ Team Thrill
Making the move to St. Frances is going to benefit Fleming tremendously. Playing alongside two talented guards in 2024 Daquan Davis Daquan Davis 6'1" | PG Overtime Elite (GA) | 2024 #119 Nation GA and 2025 Tyler Jackson Tyler Jackson 6'2" | CG St. Frances | 2025 #40 Nation MD , there will be plenty of opportunities for Fleming to showcase his high-flying acrobatics around the basket with much of the defensive attention assigned to those two. Particularly during DMV Live II, Fleming ran the lanes hard and it resulted in a flurry of dunks to ignite the crowd. He was also valuable in the dunker’s spot awaiting dump-offs from penetrating guards where he showed good timing on the catches and quickly gets off the ground before throwing it down. Averaging 11.7 points per game on 71.4 percent from the field in session II is just one example of how this new roster could benefit his game and stock. Fleming currently sits at No. 27 in our rankings.
Bobby Montgomery Bobby Montgomery 6'5" | SF Mt. Zion | 2025 State #229 Nation MD | Mt. Zion Prep/ DC Premier
It was only a matter of time before coaches fell in love with Montgomery. His competitiveness, motor and intensity that he brings as a wing brings an old school vibe that is rare in today’s game. He’s a defensive stopper who can get the job done at multiple positions. At 6’5, plus length and good anticipation skills, Montgomery is always causing deflections for transition opportunities. He’s a violent dunker, but can also showcase soft touch on his three-point shot specifically from the corners. Montgomery doesn’t need the ball to be an impact and continues to boost his stock this summer as a valuable connecting piece. He currently ranks No. 28.
Jacob Wallace Jacob Wallace 5'10" | PG DeMatha | 2025 State MD | DeMatha/ WeR1
DeMatha is once again deep at every position heading into 2023-24, but the stable of guards will wear opposing teams down throughout the course of a 32-minute game. One of the leaders of that attack is Wallace, a 6-foot pit bull who can play on or off the ball. Wallace is extremely effective in getting into the paint, forcing the defense to collapse and quickly locating the open teammate on the baseline or spotting up around the arc. His quickness paired with his ability to absorb contact, which translates from the football field, makes him an above average finisher around the rim for his size. He’s a prideful defender who picks up full court and harasses the opposing ball handler. Wallace does his due diligence on the glass and fills the stat sheet in a handful of ways. He also hit the biggest shot of DMV Live in OT buzzer-beating fashion to lift the Stags over Paul VI. Wallace is ranked as the No. 45 prospect in our rankings, but that is set to change.
