Many places might put on tremendous team camps showcasing their high school teams but no one puts on a better event than this. 31 schools participate with many high D1 talents. But every level can get a top player for their program from this event. It is on for three days. The games are always on time, the food they put out for coaches is amazing, the roster program, is first class and yes, there is air conditioning. It is an event that if your a college program you need to attend. But if you love high school basketball it is a fun day to watch the next group of players performing on ESPN in the next couple of seasons.
With Iowa State in attendance the future Cyclone did not disappoint. Dwayne’s body has really matured without losing the ability to get to the rim or raise up for his smooth mid range jumper. He was able to get his shot off the bounce pretty easily. Has great lift. Can easily take over but understands the importance of getting his teammates involved. A stud and tremendous talent who we will be hearing a lot about during his time in college.
The Big O is what I like to call him. Again he was very impressive. A physical presence in the paint doesn’t matter if he is defending or on offense. Outstanding rebounder and shot blocker. He uses his strong frame . Rebounds in traffic . We’ve said in the past he has a soft touch well at this event he showed us his addition to his game . Stepped out off the catch and knocked down 3 threes in the games on Saturday. Effortlessly repeatable motion. Our #1 player in the class of 26 showed why we have him at the top.
Another Terrier from the St Francis program . The first player at St Francis Prep to play both basketball and football and might I add at a high level. Troy is relentless getting to the rim off the bounce. Tenacious in the boards on either side of the floor. Hit a couple of mid range pull ups showing some of his growth on the court. He defends at a high level using his football mentality without fouling.
Highlights
St Peter’s had a very good weekendo showcasing some of their young talent. Qadir is a player getting his name up on a lot of recruiting boards. I’m sure offers will be coming in quickly. He protects the rim and rebounds the ball really well. Can block shots while still gaining the possession. Scores around the rim with either hand. Nice footwork. Also has the ability to knock down the 15 footer regularly.A player I am very high on and expect to have a monster summer season leading into the high school season.
Another player seeing his name all over recruiting boards. Outstanding running the floor. Can explode down the lane and score the ball. Mixed it up inside on both ends. Showed the ability to not only score inside but also hit jumpers off the catch or as a trailer.Has good hands making some tough catches in traffic. Huge upside but already really good.
Dylan took advantage of some Stepinac players sitting out the first game we saw them . Showing that he is ready to burst onto the scene next season. Dylan is a long player. Uses his length to protect the rim by altering shots. Runs the floor really well. Showed extreme quickness off the bade-line drive.
Braylan improves every time we see him . Very good from the first time we saw him. His game continues to evolve. Tough and strong inside . Can score or rebound the ball . Cleans up misses. We always knew he could hit the foul line jumper but he has expanded it now out to the three point line and consistently knocked them down in the games we saw him playing this past weekend.
