Prep Hoops Indiana had boots on the ground to cover the event that featured two defending state championship teams and another runner-up. Let’s dive on in to six players who really stood out playing with their high school teams here in early June.
Westfield came out of the gate hot as this Indiana Junior All-Star knocked in back-to-back three-point shots to start the game. Buchanan is excellent at shooting while running off of screening action or while pulling up from deep off of the dribble. The 6’0″ point guard is highly skilled and will be one of the best shooting threats in the state of Indiana this coming season.

I’ve been high on Koehler for well over a year now and it may be time for him to break out now. The potential is obvious because anytime you see a 6’7″ left-handed shooter that can move around the floor like he does you are going to be intriguing. On Tuesday night he was making catch-and-shoot 3’s, finishing in the intermediate range, and flashing some passing ability.

Loescher is a bigger guard that was a key component of Indianapolis Lutheran’s Class 1A state championship team as a sophomore. Now, as a rising junior, he and his classmate Lonte Ward are back to lead the Saints once again. The 6’3″ guard is really tough to stop off of the dribble due to his size and strength. He did a good job of getting to his spots and finishing in an impressive comeback win over Brebeuf Jesuit.
After leading the Golden Eagles in scoring as a junior on their way to a Class 3A state runner-up finish, Sorensen was once again the catalyst as Guerin Catholic went 2-0 on Tuesday night with wins over Tri-West and Ben Davis. The 5’11” guard is an excellent shooter and did a great job of handling the pressure that Ben Davis’ athletic guards throw at you.

One of the more dynamic athletes in the Class of 2025, Ward dominated the second half for Indianapolis Lutheran as they over came a 20 point deficit to defeat Brebeuf Jesuit by seven points. The 5’10” guard was doing a little bit of everything from slicing his way to the rim to making three-point shots behind the ballscreen. He is very hard to guard.

I’ve been preaching it really since the Giants cut down the nets at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to cap off their 33-0, Class 4A state championship season, but it is going to be more of a “reload” than a “rebuild” at Ben Davis this season. This dynamic rising junior point guard will be a big part of why that is the case. Zackery was excellent in a 44-42 win over Crispus Attucks dominating off of the dribble and as an on-ball defender. Such a special athlete.
