Prospects on teams that were successful in winning games and made a tourney run get first consideration. The second team is loaded with talented prospects that made a difference.
*Some heights for the prospects are estimations because they weren’t listed on the rosters*
I can’t really put a true position on Adams as a prospect and how he projects going forward. There are many determinants, such as, how he grows and what skills he focuses on to develop. Currently, he impacts the game defensively both on the perimeter and will board and block shots in the paint. He would come off of his matchup often to defend the hoop with his length and jumping ability. One of the top athletes in terms of vertical leaping ability. Offensively, he liked to get in the high post area and become a scoring and passing threat. Found ways to score over defenders in the paint. Crashed the boards nearly every time the ball went up.
Highlights
Williams has major upside. A forward that is extremely springy and bouncy on the court with 6’0”-6’1” length and long arms. Played in the high post and paint and was very active around the hoop. He would screen and roll and get the ball and attack the rim in a straight line with no wasted movement or fluff. Crashed the boards and cleaned up the mess, securing rebounds at a very high point. Had a bunch of offensive put-backs at the rim for two points. Really like his overall athletic profile and upside going forward. He has the motor, vertical, and length to become something special.
Highlights
Bradley Bode
Bradley Bode
Bode was the highly versatile “Big” on the championship team. He’s more than deserving of second team, and I nearly put him on the first team. It was very hard not to. Tall, long, and can run the court. An elite mover for his size and age. He’s consistently on the move offensively, where he’ll play on the perimeter and set ball screens. Is very comfortable on the perimeter as a passer and has surprising handles. He could breakdown a Big defending him fairly easily with his handle. A true mismatch on the court for his opponents.
David Smith
David Smith
Smith was the most well-rounded two-way prospect in my opinion. Elite on both ends. Scorers the ball easily by knocking down threes and getting to the rack to finish in traffic. A lockdown defensive stopper that matched-up with scoring guards that other teams had trouble with.
Ty’Eir Petty
Ty’Eir Petty
Petty has been mentioned a couple times already and his performance at #NEXTTheStage didn’t go unnoticed by Prep Hoops Next. A point guard can have a huge affect on a game and Petty did just that with his elite ball-handling and scoring ability. Could create off the dribble and hit high level of difficulty shots.
The super long lefty wing/forward used his length well and to his advantage to affect a game. A little raw as a lefty shooter, but he was an efficient and consistent finisher going at the hoop with his dominant left hand. His length was used in press situations and to lock-down on the wing. Was routinely getting deflections and forcing bad passes over top.
