The SCBCA Live Team Camp took place in Rock Hill this past weekend. Let's take a look at some of the best Perimeter Defenders that were in action:

In terms of physicals, Thompson is exactly what Coaches are looking for in a Wing. Length to affect shooters, quickness to stay in front of guards, and strength to hold up against bigs. At the AAAA Level, he can effectively guard 1-5. With Wilson this season, you will likely see him matched up against the opponent's best guard. Thompson has had a great summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2078752' first='Upward' last='Stars'] SE and received his first two D1 Offers this weekend from Jacksonville and South Carolina State.

[player_tooltip player_id='1041183' first='Cazz' last='Williams'] - Fort Dorchester High School

Fort Dorchester was one of a small group of teams that I got to see on both days this weekend, and Cazz is a player who jumped out in both contests on the defensive side of the ball. He took pride in guarding the other team's main playmaker, and did a good job of getting the opponent out of a rhythm. Cazz has extremely quick feet, which is his best attribute and makes him very difficult to beat. However, he does have a consistent deep-range shot, which leads me to believe he will have an important 3 & D Role for the Patriots in the upcoming High School Season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1156890' first='Jamarie' last='Brown'] - South Florence High School

The first thing that jumps out at you when you watch [player_tooltip player_id='1156890' first='Jamarie' last='Brown'] is his length. He's listed at 6'2" with a 6'9" Wingspan. Brown is a very good defender that has both quick hands and feet to go with the long arms, making him a nightmare to try to get past. Brown had several easy transition looks simply because he could get to passes that his opponent didn't expect. The Bruins will be an outstanding defensive team this season, and Brown is a big reason for that projected success.

[player_tooltip player_id='1367707' first='SyRee' last='Livingston'] - South Florence High School

Syree is another 2024 Bruin that is very good on the defensive end. He plays with his head above the rim and has a knack for chasing down opponents in the open floor. Livingston also has both broad shoulders and a strong lower body, allowing him to guard multiple positions for the Bruins.

[player_tooltip player_id='1912478' first='Jordan' last='Burgess'] - Spring Valley High School

The only time I got to see Spring Valley this weekend was on Friday, but unfortunately, they rotated minutes a bit more than usual. However, [player_tooltip player_id='1912478' first='Jordan' last='Burgess'] is a player that still impressed. He is another of these Perimeter Defenders that have great Lateral Quickness and does a great job of keeping his man in front of him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1692193' first='Brailun' last='Thomas'] - Spartanburg High School

I got to see Thomas play a lot this spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2078755' first='Upward' last='Stars Upstate'] Harvey, and he was a terrific defender for them. That same play continued into the SCBCA Live Period this weekend as Thomas joined back up with his teammates at Spartanburg High School. Thomas is a very strong defender, but what separates him from the pack is his intensity. He plays with an extra bit of fire that a lot of kids his age don't. Playing in one of the toughest regions in the Upstate, Brailun's defensive prowess will be tested many times this upcoming season, but I like his chances to hold his own.
