Benet Scores Win in 8 AM Tilt with Yorkville

This Benet young squad is really fun to watch. They share the ball so well and have a ton of depth. In their 52-46 win against Yorkville it was a balance effort. [player_tooltip player_id='1598682' first='Daniel' last='Pauliukonis'] led them in scoring with 12 points. Long and thin four man that brings mobility and shot making to the table. Seals on the block and is fluid getting up and down the floor. [player_tooltip player_id='1285490' first='Nick' last='Schroeder'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2105390' first='Jayden' last='Wright'] each hit a pair of threes. [player_tooltip player_id='1552393' first='Gabriel' last='Sularski'] racked up 7 points.

Bit of a quiet game for top uncommitted post [player_tooltip player_id='1285496' first='Jason' last='Jakstys'] as the big fella only managed 6 points. Couple nice post moves including a right handed hook shot and seal. They have a solid trio on the perimeter in tough guard [player_tooltip player_id='1285534' first='Dayvion' last='Johnson'] who had 8 points, [player_tooltip player_id='1750711' first='Jory' last='Boley'] is a strong bodied bucket getter from multiple levels who dropped 9 points, and athletic small forward Bryce Salek had 8 points showing off his hops and mid-range game.

Kenwood Scores W vs HF in Game of Event

This was a fantastic game as these two squads gave it everything they had. Kenwood narrowly won 54-52 over Homewood Flossmoor. In front of an array of high-major coaches one of the best 2025s in the state [player_tooltip player_id='1385283' first='Aleks' last='Alston'] went to work. The 6'9” point-power forward opened with a couple threes, then posted up smaller defenders, and put defenders in spin cycle too. Went for 20 points. Their rising senior duo of [player_tooltip player_id='1284852' first='Chris' last='Riddle'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1157346' first='Jaden' last='Smith'] also came up huge. Riddle is an explosive downhill slashing 2024 small forward that got to the rim with consistency with his crisp handles and bully ball. Hit a three early in the game and was excellent defensively in a 12 point outing. Their 2024 post [player_tooltip player_id='1157346' first='Jaden' last='Smith'] was impactful on the defensive end with the way he blocked shots protecting the rim all game long and clearing the defensive glass. Had a couple of nice post moves and hit the offensive glass. Mid-range jumper too for 12 points.

Homewood Flossmoor was led by [player_tooltip player_id='1488791' first='Carson' last='Brownfield']. The 2024 wing needs to be getting more D2 interest. Strong bodied southpaw is a born scorer that has an innate ability to get buckets in bunches. He has a lethal pull up game from 15-18 feet. Mixes in floaters and tough finishes in the paint for 22 points. Smaller scoring guard [player_tooltip player_id='1774274' first='Jayden' last='Tyler'] is a 2025 that has shot making ability from all over the floor. He hit three triples in the game and got loose in transition for 19 points.

Benet Moves to 2-0 on Day with Victory over Whitney Young

These two are primed to be teams to watch the next 2-3 years with their stacked 2025 and 2026 classes. Benet got the win against Whitney Young 67-56. Class of 2026 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1552393' first='Gabriel' last='Sularski'] made a statement with his play. The small forward was spectacular against the Dolphins going for 21 points and doing everything for his team. Passing was on point, rebounded, and was a playmaker. As a scorer he drained four from distance with his sweet lefty shot. Creative ball handler that gets where he wants on the floor. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2105081' first='Patrick' last='Walsh'] had a big game as well recording 18 points. Plus shooter off the catch that cuts off the ball and is a leader of this young team. Really like watching 2026 floor general [player_tooltip player_id='1598658' first='Blake' last='Fagbemi'] play. Kid is poised with the rock and hits cutters on the move. Had some crafty finishes for 7 points.

For Whitney Young it was their 2026 backcourt of [player_tooltip player_id='1552475' first='Marquis' last='Clark'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1435692' first='Rykan' last='Woo'] who carried the way. Woo was a spark in the first half coming off the bench with microwave scoring hitting several threes and a reverse layup. He had 15 points. Clark is a smooth and projectable combo guard that looks the part. Opened the second half with a flurry of threes. Smooth ball handler that finishes well around the hoop in traffic for 13 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1385300' first='Antonio' last='Munoz'] had 8 points and the 2025 small forward once again had several special athletic plays on blocks and dunks.

Class of 2027 Cleveland Has Epic Performance in Kenwood Win

It was an absolute show put on by a pair of guards in this one as Kenwood topped Brother Rice 69-64 in a great contest. The story was Devin Cleveland who went for 40 points in the win. He was absolutely in a zone as the incoming freshman drained three after three after three while also mixing in shifty takes off the bounce for soft touch finishes. Kid is a STAR! Class of 2024 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1284852' first='Chris' last='Riddle'] had a nice all-around game showing his power drives, passing, and toughness netting 11 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1157346' first='Jaden' last='Smith'] had another solid outing defensively and on the glass while notching 8 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1436161' first='Cale' last='Cosme'] picked up his first D2 offer from Lewis after this performance. He ran the show to perfection making sound decisions as a passer and playmaker with the rock in his hands. Also cashed in several threes and went in among the big bodies of Kenwood for finishes in the paint with his stellar floater game. He had 19 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1373444' first='Zavier' last='Fitch'] really stepped up and had a strong June. The power forward is a bouncy post that rim runs, finishes out of the dunker spot, and brings the motor on both ends of the court. Even knocked in a spot up three late in the game on his way to 20 points. It was a quiet first half for star [player_tooltip player_id='1545120' first='Marcos' last='Gonzales'], but the wing had a nice showing in the second half on an alley-oop, hitting the glass, and a three off the catch for 9 points.

2024 Wings Battle in Front of Coaches

It is always great to see two guys at the same position and in the same tier of college level go at it. That is what we had here as Lindblom's [player_tooltip player_id='1750599' first='JeShawn' last='Stevenson'] and Lane Tech's [player_tooltip player_id='1373439' first='Shaheed' last='Solebo'] dueled. Lane Tech led the whole game including up by over 20 at one point. The lead kept getting smaller and Lindblom came back to win 56-55 in the final minute.

Stevenson was a force on the offensive glass. The two guard is a powerfully built wing that had 7 rebounds in the game with five coming on put backs. Straight line driver that has burst getting to the cup and plays with toughness. Jumper needs work. He had 19 points in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1373439' first='Shaheed' last='Solebo'] is a wing from Lane Tech that had a great first half recording 12 of his 14 points in the first session. Couple threes spotting up, slash with a finger roll finish for and-1, and showed burst overall off the bounce. Couple nice passes as well racking up four assists along with 5 rebounds in the loss.

Danforth and Chaney Have Big Performances for Rockford Auburn

In the last game we caught of the weekend we saw Rockford Auburn defeat Springfield Southeast 66-47. Class of 2026 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1845353' first='Amir' last='Danforth'] came out ready to go with three triples in the opening minutes of the game. He has a ton of arc on his shot from distance. Settled a bit from deep, but then got loose in transition recording 20 points. He is a high level defender as well moving his feet and causing havoc. [player_tooltip player_id='1874864' first='Rakim' last='Chaney'] is a combo guard in the 2024 class that can really score from all three levels as he hit multiple from deep, 15 footers, and got to the rack for 16 points. Keon Leach is a good role guy for this team. Strong bodied forward had 13 points rim running and scoring in the paint.
