REDONDO BEACH — The 2023 Beach Bash showcase at Redondo Union high school gave us our first look at some of the area's best high school teams and players as the June scholastic events began to kick off across the country. We were in attendance for each game Saturday and came away with a handful of players who should see their stock rise over the next few weeks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1896224' first='Jaden' last='Erami'], 2025, Bosco Tech

Erami might be a newer name to our readers but after his breakout sophomore season at Bosco Tech, which resulted in a CIF Southern Section Division 5AA championship, he's earned his way into the conversation of good basketball players in SoCal. The 6-foot-2 rising junior is a positionless type of player because of his ability to do a little bit of everything on the floor. Erami can be the primary ball handler when needed, can slide off the ball and play on the perimeter and has great scoring and passing feel out of the post.

Jordan Ballard, 2026, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame

Ballard will be another name to watch at Notre Dame after playing last season on the junior varsity team due to the Knights having such a loaded squad. At 6-feet-4 with a long, wiry frame, touch from three-point range and a high motor, Ballard could be one of the better JV to Varsity risers in the region. In the game we saw at Redondo against Etiwanda, Ballard played with a chip on his shoulder and brought a good deal of energy to the floor - a valuable trait that can't be understated.

[player_tooltip player_id='1817901' first='Jordan' last='Houegban'], 2024, Brentwood

When discussing the best pure shooters in SoCal - and the state, honestly - Houegban deserves to be in that top 7 to 8 conversation. The 6-foot-1 shooting guard has some of the smoothest and most fundamental mechanics you'll find. His high arching shot, tight rotation and effortless release only add to the pureness of his shot. Houegban is one of those guys where every shot he takes looks like it is going to drop.

[player_tooltip player_id='1502783' first='Kendyl' last='Sanders'], 2024, St. Bernard

St. Bernard coach Tony Bland summed it up best when discussing Sanders prior to their first game Saturday, saying that the 6-foot-6 forward has to be good for the Vikings to experience similar success to the last two seasons. Sanders looked the part at Redondo as he used his versatility and skill to impact the game in a variety of ways. The rising senior knocked down open shots, put the ball on the floor and got to the rim and showed promise and strides as a passer from the top of the key and the high post.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956526' first='SJ' last='Madison'], 2026, Redondo Union

Madison is one of the most promising underclass prospects in Southern California. The 6-foot-4 wing is a fluid athlete with a great frame that's equipped with length and plenty of room to add weight and strength when the time comes. Madison had a couple moments that lent to his intrigue - one being a baseline rip, drive and dunk attempt that he wouldn't of tried last season and the others were confident pull-up jumpers, showing that he's made strides as a perimeter shooter.
