Ryheem Tyus
Ryheem Tyus
Ryheem was dominant in Illinois Warriors’ Sunday win over Starks Elite . He was the tallest player on the floor and used that size to his advantage by coming away with contested rebounds and converting tough finishes inside. The 6’4” wing also looked very comfortable stepping out and knocking down shots from beyond the arc off the catch. He could also put the ball on the floor, pushing the pace and creating opportunities for himself to score or to find a teammate for an even better look. Tyus was a difference maker in a low scoring game, completely taking over in the second half.
Jackson Remus
Jackson Remus
Jackson shined in the primary ball handling role for his Minnesota Heat squad on Sunday. He really impressed me with his vision and ability to thread the needle with passes through traffic. He found success finding teammates in the pick & roll, choosing to either dish it off or take it all the way to the rim for a layup. The Eden Prairie 2025 also looked comfortable ball handling against pressure, being able to blow right by his defender with his ability to quickly change direction. Remus is another name in a deep backcourt for the Eagles.
Tayden Azure
Tayden Azure
Tayden used a unique combination of finesse and power to take over in his final game of the weekend for Flight 701. He really impressed me with the way he was able to score the ball, being able to go to work inside and step out and hit shots from the outside. He connected with a couple of shots off the dribble, using step backs and crossovers to gain separation. He could also play with his back to the basket, backing smaller defenders down for tough finishes at the basket. Azure was a difference maker on the glass with physical rebounds on both sides of the ball as well.
Angelo Johnson
Angelo Johnson
Angelo was a problem inside for opponents on Sunday and was finding no trouble finishing through loads of traffic. He possesses a strong 6’2” frame and was using it to fight through contact for some really tough finishes. I saw him convert on multiple and-ones and was giving his team second chance opportunities with a ton of offensive rebounds. He also looked good running in transition, putting himself in positions to receive passes from teammates around the basket. Johnson is built like a football player and really stuck out to me with his physicality.
Braden Bement
Braden Bement
Braden impressed me commanding the Starks Elite offense on Sunday, maintaining a good balance of scoring and passing in his game. He did well creating for his team in the half court, either going to work in isolation or in the pick & roll. He showed off his vision, finding teammates for backdoor or cross-court passes for assists. Bement is also a confident shooter from the outside and was letting it fly from deep. Braden did a lot of things right in the action I saw and heavily impacted the game as an offensive weapon.
John Johnson
John Johnson
It was fun to watch John go to work down low in the post, using his strength to free himself for an open look. He often went to a spin move to get around his defender to finish with his left hand and used force to back down defenders to go up right over their contest. The Park Center 2025 also had some nice kick out passes out of the post to open teammates on the perimeter. Johnson did a good job crashing the boards as well, doing everything he could to hold down the paint for MN Chill.
Jordan Ziehr
Jordan Ziehr
Jordan was one of the taller players on the floor in the game I saw, but impressed me with the versatile traits he provides to a team. The 6’2” wing showed off his perimeter shooting with a pair of first half threes off the catch and also got his teammates involved with some accurate, high IQ passes. He moves well for his size and also impacted the game as a rebounder. Ziehr is another player to watch in the Lakeville North system that always produces a lot of talent.
