While the public schools get after it in the first live weekend in June, private schools will also be gathering in the Triad to play each other in the NCISAA Team Camp. While Friday only has 2/3s of the games that the weekend does, it still brings some exciting matchups to the forefront. Check below for some of the best matchups of the opening day and who will be standout guys to watch.

Davidson Day and Fayetteville Academy are two programs on upward trajectories with a lot of young talent to check out. Davidson Day brings in a ton of new additions after a rough season last year, all with really good size and ability to shoot the ball. Hank Neace, [player_tooltip player_id='2043210' first='Mason' last='Smith'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2238223' first='Brady' last='Kester'] are a few of the 2024 additions, and Anthony Rogers and Ja Spruill are two 2025s that led the squad last year and should be valuable backcourt pieces. For Fayetteville Academy, they bring every player back and that starts with impressive scorer [player_tooltip player_id='1959683' first='Xavier' last='Johnson'] and freshman running mate [player_tooltip player_id='1365506' first='Jossiah' last='Johnson']. They have [player_tooltip player_id='2046230' first='Derrick' last='Green'] who will hopefully be healthy and a force down low, and Tyler Henderson who is a sniper from anywhere on the court. I'll be excited to watch all these guys and see if anyone new pops out for either team.

Evening Session

Christ School takes on Ravenscroft in a battle featuring a defending champion and an established Triangle power. Christ School returns a powerful backcourt in [player_tooltip player_id='951365' first='Keenan' last='Wilkins'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1076360' first='Bryson' last='Cokley'], and retains [player_tooltip player_id='865287' first='Jamari' last='Briggs'] on the wing. However, they also add two huge transfers in [player_tooltip player_id='1164550' first='Zymicah' last='Wilkins'], a top 2025 forward, and [player_tooltip player_id='1239543' first='Madden' last='Collins'], a 2025 guard from Irmo, SC. This group of 5 should be more than enough to push Christ School back towards the top of the pile. For Ravenscroft, they retain [player_tooltip player_id='1030027' first='Alex' last='Olander'], a big wing that should be D2/D3 college material after another good season, and [player_tooltip player_id='2290092' first='Jackson' last='Rein'], a sharpshooting 6'6 forward/wing. Their backcourt is still TBD with the graduation of multiple seniors, but guys like Brock Hoggard and [player_tooltip player_id='1926210' first='Elijah' last='Deifer'] may be next up for the Ravens. I'll be interested to see whether the Ravens can stop the machine that should be Christ School.
