The 6’5 combo guard will have instant impact in NorCal. He brings a quality set of skills to the court. He has plenty of ways to put points on the board, he’s a shot maker, a 3 level scorer. He brings size, strength, and athleticism to defend multiple positions, and get rebounds.
Standing 6’6 he has the size and strength to be an effective point producer in the post area at the 16U level. With that being said he’s showing improvement along the perimeter. He knocked down a couple of open 3’s, handled the ball a bit in the open court and transition. He has the strength to defend, and block a few in the post. He’s a top notch rebounder when he’s locked in.
Jones is an intriguing prospect, he has the tools to be a productive player on the court. He has a solid body, he shoots the ball with range, he can knock down the mid-range jumper off the dribble, he can handle the ball up top and work off ball. He has sneaky hops to challenge bigs at the rim.
He spends a lot of his time pushing and passing the ball up court. He seems best working in a fast pace game. He did show he could run the point, his passing and decision making was good. He’s a player you can’t leave open behind the 3pt line too often. He’ll hit 3’s in transition, in the corners, and along the perimeter. He has a quick release, not much hesitation.
He’s a big body with a good set of fundamental skills. He moves well in his space with good foot work in the post areas. He has the good vision and passing working from the high and low post. He showed he could step out and hit 3’s at the top and in the corner. He’ll defend and help rebound.
He’s a fast guard with superb ball handling skills. He keeps defenders off balance up top with his stop, and go, then a burst, he doesn’t need much space to get by defenders and into the paint taking it right at the bigs. He runs the point with good patience in the half-court making sure to have good spacing. He’s a pass first point guard.
