June Splash Plays
In this article:
For any of a number of reasons players go overlooked by PrepHoopsTN. These are some guys that made a splashy play(s) in June. They made a big impression in a small showing.
Blake Garner – Millington – 2024
During BCAT Team Camp: Session I, Blake Garner was very spry, hunting down offensive rebounds. He was quick off of his feet. Garner defended the point guard spot at 6-foot-3, which is a nice note. Garner was smooth with the dribble, though not yet elite. He slipped through a decent MBA defense in the second half and finished in one, fluid motion. Seconds later he caught a terrible outlet pass by simply outjumping a defender. Without pausing Garner got the ball up on the rim softly and it eventually rolled in.
Eric Jones Eric Jones 5'11" | CG Fayette Ware | 2024 State TN Jr. – Fayette Ware
Eric shot a pure three-pointer early in the matchup with Rockvale. He stands with good strength, built like a football player with big shoulders. Jones Jr. was a dynamic scorer Friday during the BCAT Team Camp: Session II.
Arnez Bryant – Fayette Ware
Beautiful pass to a slashing teammate from the near corner. Arnez dropped off another great pass two possessions after and then crated his own steal, rifling the ball immediately 40′ up-court to a teammate breaking out.
AJ Polk AJ Polk 6'0" | PG Power Center Academy | 2027 State TN – Power Center Academy
AJ was an insane find during the final hour(s) of BCAT Team Camp: Session II in the auxiliary gym of Centennial High School. Polk attacked without relenting against Trinity Christian. His speed and composure suggested junior in high school. Afterwards PCA Head Coach Marcus Williams shared that AJ is entering the ninth grade! Polk will be clawing for a Top 10 position when the Class of 2027 rankings debut in the fall.
Jeremiah Hayes Jeremiah Hayes 6'0" | SG Fayette Ware | 2024 State TN – Fayette Ware
Played with grit in BCAT Team Camp: Session II on the Friday, in multiple games. When his shot was not falling, Hayes still rebounded and attacked with the bounce.
Xavier Washington Xavier Washington 6'3" | SG Hillsboro | 2025 State TN – Hillsboro
Hillsboro was very, very good during BCAT Team Camp: Session II and Xavier was perhaps the best rebounder and worker bee. Washington is an important piece and the team’s balance benefits from his inclusion as Cortez Graham-Howard Cortez Graham-Howard 6'5" | PG Hillsboro | 2025 State TN looks to lead them back to the state tournament.
Garrett Giles Garrett Giles 6'6" | SF Oak Ridge | 2025 State TN – Oak Ridge
Giles was active, quick, and an adept outside shooter during BCAT Team Camp: Session II. He caught the basketball in mild transition, pulled up and hit a smooth three-pointer displaying his wonderful potential.
Reese Hunsinger Reese Hunsinger 5'10" | PG Ravenwood | 2025 State TN – Ravenwood
Over the course of the final June weekend Reese made multiple wonderful plays. With Ravenwood at the BCAT Team Camp: Session II he made a sharp cutting dash to the basket and pulled-up smoothly to finish over two help defenders. The quickness Hunsinger, and most of the RHS team played with on Friday was remarkable. The team is loaded with veterans and they look dangerous, ready to rack up wins in 2023-2024. Hunsinger followed up that nice day/night with a sparkling PrepHoopsTN Combine performance on Sunday. During the 4-on-4 Team Final, Reese hesitated and then attacked in pick’n’roll action and quickly, smoothly flipped up a lefty layup before everyone could recover and swat him away. A smaller guard, Hunsinger needed to be active with the feet to make things happen and he was. Seconds later he ran across the court, pulling his man, caught a sharp pass, and with a fluid motion lofted and buried a comfortable three-pointer. The quick series of plays helped his team capture the makeshift 4-on-4 Team Championship.
