Indiana’s Junior All-Stars came out hot, but Kentucky answered with a dominant second half to come away with a 106-92 victory. It was the size and physicality of guys like Derrell Bateman Derrell Bateman 6'4" | SF Christian County | 2024 State KY (Christian County H.S. 2024) and Ayden Evans Ayden Evans 6'9" | C Elizabethtown | 2024 State KY (Elizabethtown H.S. 2024) that were the difference along with the obvious scoring ability of four-star guard Travis Perry Travis Perry 6'2" | PG Lyon County | 2024 State #115 Nation KY (Lyon County H.S. 2024) for Kentucky. They collected a total of 18 offensive rebounds on the game and out rebounded Indiana by 19 overall. Additionally, in the second half, they outshot Indiana 54.1% to just 27.1%.
For Indiana, K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN (Ben Davis H.S. 2024) continued his excellent spring leading the way with 25 points on efficient 9-15, 5-9, 4-4 shooting splits. His shooting ability just keeps translating from the high school season, to the EYBL Circuit, and now into the All-Star series. The lefty was 50-143 (35.0%) during the high school season, 37-92 (40.2%) through four EYBL sessions, and then made a game high five three-point shots on Sunday evening.
Sabien Cain Sabien Cain 6'2" | CG Millennium | 2024 State AZ was the second leading scorer representing the Hoosier state scoring 15 points, 12 of which came in Indiana’s strong first half. The University High School star just announced this weekend he would be leaving the state to compete at Millennium High School in Arizona. Micah Davis Micah Davis 6'0" | PG Franklin | 2024 State #184 Nation IN (Franklin H.S. 2024) and Tyler Parrish Tyler Parrish 6'3" | SG Chesterton | 2024 State IN (Chesterton H.S. 2024) finished with 13 points and 12 points respectively to round out the double-figure scorers. 6’6″ forward Justin Sims Justin Sims 6'6" | PF Chesterton | 2024 State IN (Chesterton H.S. 2024) was solid as well finishing with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
Travis Perry Travis Perry 6'2" | PG Lyon County | 2024 State #115 Nation KY led all scorers with 24 points for Kentucky to help spur their comeback victory. Three-star center Ayden Evans Ayden Evans 6'9" | C Elizabethtown | 2024 State KY dominated both around the basket and showed his ability to stretch the floor shooting 3-6 from three-point range on his way to 23 points and 5 rebounds. Derrell Bateman Derrell Bateman 6'4" | SF Christian County | 2024 State KY dominated the interior as well finishing with 15 points and a game-high 18 rebounds despite being a 6’5″ wing. His strength and athleticism were certainly on display in this one. Kade Unseld Kade Unseld 6'5" | SF Warren Central | 2024 State #252 Nation KY (Warren Central H.S. 2024) and Mason Ritter Mason Ritter 6'8" | C Bowling Green | 2024 State KY (Bowling Green H.S. 2024) also finished in double-figures with 15 points and 11 points respectively.
The Indiana vs. Kentucky All-Star series will resume on Wednesday as the Indiana Junior All-Stars play against the Indiana Senior All-Stars. Then, the game heads south to Owensboro for the Indiana All-Stars versus the Kentucky All-Stars on Friday before finishing the weekend with a second game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday.
