Liam Farniok Liam Farniok 6'3" | SG Minneapolis Southwest | 2024 State MN of Starks Elite (6’3 SG, Minneapolis Southwest). Three point touch with range, step back jumper, pull up jumper, hard charging attack in transition, Liam did all of it to score a pair of 20 plus games today at the GPA. His basketball label is scorer and he does it in a variety of ways successfully.
Porter Ihnen Porter Ihnen 6'5" Lennox | 2024 MN of SSA (6’6 Guard, Lennox). The future USD guard saved his best for the championship against the Comets scoring 26 points on 10 of 18 shooting. Going against a top 25 player in Minnesota, Ihnen scored relentlessly on his man and against the help. Baseline drives, attacks after the ball screen, short jumpers after the dribble, and transition buckets all went as the Comets could not slow the future Coyote.
Kyle Jorgensen Kyle Jorgensen 6'9" | C Minneapolis Washburn | 2024 State #308 Nation MN of Minnesota Comets (6’9 Big, Minneapolis Washburn). The biggest thing Kyle did today in my eyes was dominate the glass. He had 19 rebounds in the semi-final win over the Heat and then nine in the title game. SSA sent a lot of attention Kyle’s way on the block but his low post passing is outstanding leading to five title game assists. Some of the best hands, feet, and feel in the post that you will find anywhere.
Jalen Langsy Jalen Langsy 5'11" | PG Shakopee | 2024 State MN of Minnesota Crossfire (6’1 Guard, Shakopee). Langsy the combo guard was putting up massive totals yet again. Playing against a collection of random quality players from the St. Cloud area and the north metro (Comets Gold) Jalen knocked out seven threes and scored 27 points.
Hunter Lorenson Hunter Lorenson 6'0" | PG Lake City | 2024 State MN of Minnesota Comets (6’0 PG, Lake City). It was a very good Championship Friday for Hunter. Hunter shot a combined 11 of 16 from the field today with 8 of 9 foul shooting scoring 15 points in each game. It was one of the best back to back performances I have ever seen from Hunter in the AAU setting.
Jesse Van Kalsbeek of SSA (6’6 Forward, MOC-Floyd Valley). The Ihnen/Mehrman combination were very good for Sanford Sports but they do not beat the Comets without Jesse’s activity. He totaled 20 points and nine rebounds relentlessly out-working the opponent for active baskets shooting 8 of 12. Another sneaky thing he did was help defend on the Comets D1 big limiting good touches and attempts. Excellent title game performance.
