There were many standouts throughout the event, and plenty of offers were thrown around as well. Here’s a look at some of the 2027 standouts in attendance.
Israel Tchoubfong | 6’6” F | Good Counsel
Tchoubfong may only be a rising freshman, but he showed flashes of brilliance and a lot of tools that are very intriguing moving forward. He has a good frame that is likely still growing and should fill out nicely, he has good ball skills as he shoed the ability to put it on the deck and make shots in the midrange, he’s an athletic finisher and with his length and ability to move he can impact the game defensively already. He finished the event averaging 8.5 points on 67% shooting from the field and 4 rebounds per game.
Amani Asare Amani Asare 5'9" | PG Bishop O'Connell | 2027 State VA | 5’11” PG | Bishop O’Connell
Asare didn’t put up huge numbers as he’s the only freshman on a very talented O’Connell team, but he showed flashes of brilliance and will be one of the top guards in the DMV moving forward. He’s shifty and quick off the bounce with a good handle and first step, he has a good midrange game with a tough pull-up, he can knock down shots from deep and is a natural playmaker. He can set the tone defensively and he still has a lot of room to get better moving forward.
Babatunde Oladotun Babatunde Oladotun 6'7" | SG Blake | 2027 State MD | 6’6” F | DeMatha
DeMatha has a very talented freshman class coming in, and Oladotun has perhaps the most upside as he’s already advanced for his age yet still has plenty of room to develop. Standing 6’6” already with long arms and likely still growing he’s a good athlete who can run the floor and finish above the rim, he has good ball skills and can make shots from deep and he has great potential on the defensive end too. He had a great final game going for 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting and 3-for-5 from deep in their win over Fairfax Christian.
Jamaal McKnight | 5’10” PG | DeMatha
McKnight showed he’s ready to go right now, as he took full advantage of his minutes and showed great upside as a two way guard who can make plays for himself and others. He’s a tough nosed guard who gets after it on both ends of the floor, he is shifty off the bounce with good change of speed and directions and he can knock down tough shots from multiple levels. He had a great showing in their win over Highland School, going for 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field and 3-for-5 from deep.
J’Lon Lyons | 6’1” CG | Grace Brethren
Lyons made a huge impact for GB in their win over a talented Highland team, as the 6’1” combo guard showed poise beyond his years and showed the ability to score it in a variety of ways. He’s very strong for his age and is able to play both on and off the ball, he gets downhill where he’s a good finisher in traffic and he shot the ball well from deep too. He finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals in their win.
Zaevion Williams | 6’3” WG | John Paul the Great
While Williams didn’t put up huge numbers on his experienced JPG team, he showed a lot of potential moving forward with his athleticism and skillset. He has a quick first step and good speed in transition, he can knock down shots from deep and get to spots off the bounce and he is a good defender as well. He’ll be one to watch moving forward.
