It was a full day of hoops and there was plenty of talent on display. The Cobber Team Camp had squads from both Minnesota & North Dakota in attendance. The camp had three varsity divisions and two JV divisions for a grand total of 36 teams.
We are always excited to be on Concordia’s campus, it is a great venue for hosting/viewing events.
PHD stopped by in the afternoon to take in some of the action.
See below for the ballers that stood out in the action that PHD watched at the Cobber Team Camp.
-Beast on the boards, secured the D glass, and hit the O-boards hard
-Loved how he grabbed the O-rebound, patiently waited for D to fly by him, went up for easy score
-Showed muscle & strength on the block
-Unselfish in the post, passed out & found shooters
-Great outlet passer, eyes immediately go down the floor
-Blocked shots with excellent timing
Highlights
-Made some nice plays slashing to the hoop
-A long guard that can makes things happen off the bounce
-I liked how he caught, ripped, and attacked with straight line drives
-Showed a sweet slash across the lane & a finger roll bucket across the front of the rim
-Played fast and scored layups in transition
Highlights
-Per usual, the best athlete in the gym
-Alley-oop SLAM, Mathew kissed the pass off the backboard, Jeremiah’s head looked even w/ the rim
-Tomahawk WHAM in transtion
-Accumulated many offensive rebounds & scored multiple points on putbacks
-Made the extra pass and found shooters
-Showed an unguardable fadeaway jumper multiple times
-Hit game-winning FT in double overtime
-Showed that the little brother can also dunk! Matthew threw down an athletic SLAM
-Delivered an alley-oop pass to big brother off the backboard for a wham
-Displayed some ankle-breaking handles
-Made plays as a slasher & shooter
-Strong baseline drive going left, attacked the hoop, went up through 2 defenders & drew the foul
-Impressed with his aggression and assertiveness
-Love his jump shot, no problem getting it off over D, high & soft release
-Fluid from deep, smooth catch-n-shoot triple shooter
-The Hawks JV team went undefeated & won their bracket
-Owen played great ball and put up consistent points
-Made excellent cuts, reads, passes, steals
-His coach told me “Terras is a super smart player with a high IQ“
-Breakout performance for the incoming frosh
Highlights
-Had a few silky-smooth slash-n-score plays
-Impressive 1-handed scoop shot with his defender on his hip
-Showed an athletic pull-up game
-He really attacks the ball off the rim & leads the break going the other way
-Showed good feet/moves around the basket
-Strong & powerful athlete
-As always, he looked athletic & long
-Seems a bit more polished & smooth w/ the ball
-His jump shot definitely looks improved, drained a fluid college range triple
-Posted up and shared the ball to cutters/shooters, I liked his vision & unselfishness
-It was fun to see the Gopher Football commit back on the hardwood
-He has really bulked up and added muscle since I last saw him play hoops
-Showed a strong drop-step post move that led to an easy score
-Going to be a bear around the hoop this winter
-His pull-up J from the elbow looks unstoppable
-Has zero trouble rising up over the defense and delivering
-He can play every position on offense and guard 1-5 on defense
-Looked good catching-n-shooting the 3-ball
-Showed good footwork on the block, impressive spin-move going baseline
-Can score with either hand, drew contact and got to the line
-Looked light on his feet and aggressive on the glass
-Love how he grabs the rebound high & keeps it high away from the D
